I would NOT use another size spare. As while the rolling circumference may be the same, the aspect ratio of tyre wall to tyre width is not. |

Thanks for the advice guys. I really want a 19" alloy and tyre to match the ones on the car however these seem to be unobtainable at reasonable money - I dont mind a scruffy one at the right money as I could get it refurbed. As regards a 'space saver' that would be ok to, but I worry about the different diameter wheel and its affect on the 4wd system. Also from what I have read the later cars (like mine) need a 19" alloy to clear the brake callipers. Is that true or am I worrying to much?

Hi, why not if you are just wanting a spare to get you home or the nearest garage then the aspect ratio is pretty much irrelevant it is as you said the circumference that matters thats why manufacturers can use space savers as spares, they DONT match the aspect ratio they DO match the circumference . my first ever FL2 and I did keep it longer than most other cars! But its now gone way up Norf |

Thanks every one. Found a new space saver wheel with a new proper tyre on Facebook complete with original jack and wheelbrace. Now need to find the polystyrene round thing that goes inside the wheel to hold the jack etc.

There isn't an insert inside the wheel.

I'm also on the lookout for a spacesaver wheel, plus jack kit. My soon-to-be 2009 F2 has just the pump and gunge setup looking very forlorn in the space where the spare would normally be! Located near Littlehampton in Sussex.
