People often value their own goods \ services much more highly than they value the service of others. A service or item is only worth what others are willing to pay for it. I recently did my own cam belt \ auxiliary belt \ water pump \ coolant etc. The parts came in at less than £150 ( coolant is expensive ). Factor in the overheads of the garage, £350 for the coolant \ labour \ electricity \ insurance \ rent etc etc doesn't seem bad. It took me a full day to change mine, I had to buy a timing kit in addition to all the tools I had collected over the years. If you feel you are being robbed, get your hands dirty and diy. Great sense of satisfaction and knowing you can spend the savings elsewhere. If for any reason you are unable to diy, I empathise, but that's the reality of running a 7 year old vehicle. |

Just wondering how much does the mechanic doing the job take out of the £95 after all the overheads are paid off. Is it a one man band or are there more people to pay in the equation. |

Yesterday had my septic sucked out. Tanker arrived within 4 hours of ringing the company (Camino UK), driver spent about an hour sucking out the contents and hosing down the inside whilst I rodded the backed up blockage. Then took it all away to the nearest sewage works.

Shop around and try a few other independent mechanics. The Freelander 2 engine is a Peugeot / Ford design and used in their model ranges as well. The timing belt change procedure on these will be familiar to most experienced mechanics.

I think thats a reasonable price for the job, when I was looking around for prices local specialist was that sort of money and local village garage was £100 more ![]() I dont like paying £1.75 for a litre of diesel buts thats what it cost today ![]() my first ever FL2 and I did keep it longer than most other cars! But its now gone way up Norf |

I think it's best to ask Mikey how long the timing belt change takes, then work it out from that, you may be lucky and get someone who only charges £50/HR +vat. If you do I'm sure most will want their address, last year I had a service, mot and timing belt and water pump on a Peugeot 2.0l which is basically the same engine for £500. They charged £65/hr+vat small village in West of Scotland my PC is slightly to the right of Genghis

Their quote included 3 hours labour which if a specialist outfit should be ample time. |
