Being highly suspicious of these sort of marketing statements I'd like to know what does that actually mean and what are the determinants ? Jules

So what Castrol are saying here is that from extraction/transportation/refining and finally distribution, this particular oil has generated 0g of CO2. As the base ingredient of fully synthetic oil is still crude oil mixed with chemicals (how are these obtained/manufactured?) I would agree with Jules that this is just a marketing ploy to get you to buy the product

Smith & Allan will do for me.
The Fl2 is only doing 6K miles or less between annual services at the moment and 90% are trips of over 100 miles, so I'm not "stressing" the oil much anyway. Jules

Me too, I really dont think engine oil is going to make the slightest difference to emissions later FL2s that have DPFs are not that polluting (unlike a 300TDi Defender !!) with all the coal fired power stations in India and China going like the clappers, millions of cars sat in stationery traffic in London makes it all a joke.

Defender 90 300 TDi CSW.
