Sounds easier. Does the switch prise out easy with a screwdriver ? Then just cut wires, take off some of the sheathing of old and new unit, match the colours , twist around each other, wrap with insulating tape - then pop back in ? Still not confident to take the whole handle off, but like with anything I've done on this car its OK after the first time Ta |

The tailgate is an easy job even I managed it. Yes I think a small flat blade screwdriver gets the switch out. |

I’ve bought a switch from eBay but it has the whole loom with it , not just a switch with short wires. |

Honestly Deano it’s an easy fix I think I said in this thread get someone to hold the tailgate for you as you give the trim a good tug downward. Maybe an idea to have some of the white plastic push in clips to hand as some always break I got mine from eBay too. In my opinion it’s better to do the complete switch instead of cutting and joining wires my car is an older model and honestly doesn’t need anymore electrical gremlins especially with my limited sparky experience |

Ok. Are the trim clips just any trim clips from eBay ….or are there different sizes ? |

The trim has metal spring clips along the top and typical plastics ones along the sides and bottom. None of mine broke when taking the trim off.

Fitted new one today finally - with one from eBay. All seems to work now and no paint damage on the tailgate 😀 |
