Rear 12 Socket - Use to charge battery

Hi Folks
Anyone know if I was to use a battery charger pluged into the rear 12 socket (which I understand is constantly live) can charge the battery.
The reason I as is that I dont really use my car that much as I cycle to work and want to keep the battery fully charged.
Would there be any issuies with the amount of current through the socket?

Many Thanks

I use the CTEK charging adapter on my13 pin and works well. Charges especially well when it’s parked up through non use during a Covid isolation spell…. Laughing

Mine is a MY2013 and my rear 12v socket only stays live for a few minutes once the ignition is turned off?
Anybody know if this is normal for the facelift model? FL2 SD4 XS 2013 Orkney Grey

I would have to check that on mine. But I can tell you that if you transiently short a trailer bulb socket whilst changing bulbs the car shuts that circuit down. Caused me great confusion until I realised what the car was doing. I had to turn the ignition off and back on for the circuit to function again. Jules

totally different comment, my 2007 HSE does not have a power socket in the boot, there must have been a specific time when they decided to add one.

On the N/S boot panel, I’ve never seen a HSE model without one , that very strange
