Not sure if it's true but. Someone told me that to replace the rear pads on a Tiguan you need to connect the car up to a VW diagnostic machine. 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto

Our friend has had two Tiguan and now has the latest version and he loves it, diesel auto (best version TBH) top of the range thingy, it’s nice enough but dreary black cloth inside, he has had a few issues with it, only minor though mostly some software flashing up errors, some went away the next day others needed an update…….his Son in Law is the principal at a major VW/Audi dealer so he has that “leaning”.

BTW it’s not at all like a Freelander, it’s very much like our Audi Q3 unsurprisingly.

My consideration wouldn't be fuel consumption but durability, build quality and reason for LR its off road ability. |

The actual seats in the Tiguan were no where near as nice (quite hard) as those in our Q3…..but they were leather and nice and soft.

Not the latest model but we have had a 2013 Tdi 4motion R line since 6 months old and 800 miles to 9 years old and 140000 miles at the minute. Been a very good very reliable car. Can't fault it at all. Rear pads do need the vagcom software to open the brake calipers, other than that it's easily enough to diy maintain.. Landrover - turning owners into mechanics since 1948

Not a proper response to your question I know but my son has a Skoda Kodiaq 4x4 and loves it. Not driven it myself but it’s a smart looking vehicle in and out, so much legroom (he’s about 6ft 4) front and rear, as well as an enormous boot |

It's quite a bit lighter so will use less fuel. Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!
