VW Tiguan 2017 . . anyone on here driven one?

Just out of interest, has anyone driven the VW Tiguan, the later model 2016 - 2022, diesel manual ?? Any good, still looking at cars, quite fancy a 14 reg Freelander but MPG is not as good as most other cars, so looking at a 2016 Tiguan, reasonable reviews online, but would like to hear what a Freelander driver thinks if at all possible

Thanks

Not sure if it's true but. Someone told me that to replace the rear pads on a Tiguan you need to connect the car up to a VW diagnostic machine. 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto
5 x FL2 4 manual + 1 auto
Now Discovery Sport P250 MHEV SE

Our friend has had two Tiguan and now has the latest version and he loves it, diesel auto (best version TBH) top of the range thingy, it’s nice enough but dreary black cloth inside, he has had a few issues with it, only minor though mostly some software flashing up errors, some went away the next day others needed an update…….his Son in Law is the principal at a major VW/Audi dealer so he has that “leaning”.

The rear brake pad software is to release the pressure in the system on the pads, I think it can be done some other way though according to the forums. Regards

David

Lovely i6 has now gone, but not me......

Please let me know if anything in my post offends you, as I may wish to offend you again......

BTW it’s not at all like a Freelander, it’s very much like our Audi Q3 unsurprisingly.

It’s more a pumped up hatchback than 4X4 like the Freelander (deflated Discovery Rolling with laughter ) Regards

My consideration wouldn't be fuel consumption but durability, build quality and reason for LR its off road ability.

The actual seats in the Tiguan were no where near as nice (quite hard) as those in our Q3…..but they were leather and nice and soft.

Keep looking Thumbs Up Regards

Not the latest model but we have had a 2013 Tdi 4motion R line since 6 months old and 800 miles to 9 years old and 140000 miles at the minute. Been a very good very reliable car. Can't fault it at all. Rear pads do need the vagcom software to open the brake calipers, other than that it's easily enough to diy maintain.. Landrover - turning owners into mechanics since 1948

Not a proper response to your question I know but my son has a Skoda Kodiaq 4x4 and loves it. Not driven it myself but it’s a smart looking vehicle in and out, so much legroom (he’s about 6ft 4) front and rear, as well as an enormous boot

I PART EX MY FREELANDER 3MONTHS AGO FOR A 66REG TIGUAN 4MOTION AUTO DIESEL , LIVING IN A FUTURE ULE ZONE
AND THE FREELANDER DIESEL BEING EURO 5 ENGINE WITH A POSSIBLE CHARGE OF £7-£10 ADAY , I WAS LOOKING
AROUND AT DIFFERENT VEHICLES AND THEIRE IS NOT MUCH OUT THERE TO REPLACE THE FREELANDER ,THE TIGUAN IS
OK BUT A COMPLETELY DIFERENT DRIVING EXPERIENCE IE DRIVING POSITION AND HANDLING, AND NOT ALL FOR THE
BETTER, IF I WAS YOU AND NOT LIVING IN A ULE ZONE STICK WITH THE FREELANDER, THE ONE YOUR LOOKING AT THE
ASKING PRICE AND THE DIFFERENCE IN PRICE THAT YOU WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR MK2 TIGUAN YOU HAVE A LOT FUEL
TO BURN, JUST MY INPUT AND ONCE PROUD OWNER OF A FREELANDER FOR 8 TOTALY RELIABLE YEARS AND IT NEVER
FAILED A MOT AT 160,000MLS, WHY O WHY DID THEY DISCONTINUE THE FREELANDER Big Cry
