United Kingdom 2009 Freelander 2 TD4 SE Manual Rimini Red

My SE manual is on standard 235/65/17 Chinese tyres. Shocked I have found the speedo is pretty much spot (within 2%) on going by 3 different GPS systems, and those radar speed displays you get by the side of the road.
So unfortunately I will have to stick to the standard size, when I get some decent rubber for it.
I'll be fitting Yokohama Geolander 015, as they're a good all round tyre, and don't cost huge amounts either. Hyundai Ioniq 5 Ultimate. The family car.
2009 Rimini Red SE TD4. Gone.
2006 Tonga Green i6 HSE. Gone.
Audi A5 convertible, my daily driver.
1972 Hillman Avenger GT, the project.

Surprised about your experience of the Michelin latitude cross, have read very good reviews and thought they would do big miles. How long did yours last out of interest?

I got just under 20,000 km out of them. It was the fronts that were on the limit, still had a bit of meat on the rears but one of them had a nik in the sidewall. Admittedly I didn't rotate them so could've got a bit more mileage and having said that its pretty mountainous down where I am so that probably increased ware.

"How many miles should Michelin Latitude tires last?
Michelin backs this tire with a 65,000 mile tread guarantee, and has sizes available from 16-19 inches. Michelin has engineered a winner in the Latitude Tour for the most part. Not only is it one of the best performing tires in this class, but it is one of the safest truck/SUV all-season tires on the market today.11 Aug 2018"

I think I'd be flagging it up with the suppliers any 4x4 tyre that only lasted 20k? 🤔 Landrover - turning owners into mechanics since 1948

We had Michelin Latitude Cross tyres on the wife's Fl2 and they were a great tyre , easily one of the longest lasting tyres we had on it , even a match for the General Grabber At's . Even after 25k they still looked like new .

I ought to really Bob but too late now as I don't have the tyres anymore.
I also had a set on a ranger which didn't last long either, only put them on the freel 2 to see if it was just vehicle that was eating them and also because they do perform well in all conditions.
Lets see how the BFG urban terrains go, so far so good very happy with them and much better ride imho.

correct me if im wrong, but if a tyre lasts a long time is the tread harder than a tyre that lasts not so long?therefore the softer compound will grip better. for example f1 tyres, at £141 roughly, michelin latitude seem expensive, and as someone previously said on here if we keep buying them the price will stay around that.

United Kingdom 2009 Freelander 2 TD4 GS Manual Bali Blue

My daughter gets through Freelanders quicker than the tyres wear out, one seized engine, two rear axles and Haldex couplings, and a bevel box. Two sets of wheels and tyres from my stock. Not bad for 20k miles.
