Leaving

Sadly leaving this forum after writing off my HSE last week. I had only owned it for 10 months, and must say I enjoyed the car, bought primarily for towing our caravan, which it did without any fuss or bother.
Unfortunately I hit an almost hidden rock on a grass verge and totalled the NSFwheel, suspension, driveshaft and wing.
The insurance (NFU) paid up without any query and gave me over £1000 than I paid for it.
I have replaced it with a Volvo XC90 Executive -2010 vintage
Thanks to all who replied to my questions ,and good luck to you all.
Dave

Sorry see you go but these things happen.

Had the rock been placed there deliberately to dissuade people driving on the verge ?

People do that around here, on our narrow roads- I think its technically illegal as they don't own the verge , its the council's.
I think its dangerous as drivers often need to drive on a bit of the verge to safely pass each other and at night these rocks are hard to see.
Years ago the local traffic was much lighter and the verges didn't suffer but now they get trashed in the winter and people don't like to see the verge in front of their house turned to mud so they "throw rocks". Jules

Hi, Jules, yes they had been placed there to stop wagons etc from running on the grass.
The police attended and I asked about the rocks, but they weren't really interested......
However they didn't't breathalyse me and aren't taking any further action.
Dave
ps I don't drink so it would have been negative!

How true it is, but I was told it comes under highways and you can claim off the highways who in turn claims off the household putting the rocks out.
