Fitted the new actuator today. All working well. One polnt that might help others. When changing the near side front unit, note that when removing the door handle mechanism which frankly is the only way to change over the three cables. Unlike the other doors there is no torx screw on the outside holding the rear of the handle/lock. It,s held by the key lock barrel. The tee piece is stil fitted at the front same as the other doors. Thanks again Jules for your pictures.

After tackling this job it,s given me more confidence to do the other doors if and when. Nothing like getting stuck in and getting hands on. Really the only bit i would advise is geting the wife to support the door card while you get the window switch plugged back in and refitting the dor handle part of the cable. A bit more slack on the window switch wiring woud be better, but that,s the only criticism .

It may be a generic photo but those are NOT the same motors that I used. In mine, one motor had a worm the other a sprocket ,

England 2014 Freelander 2 TD4 XS Manual Loire Blue

Hi Jules, Excellent write up thanks. I followed it yesterday to replace the lock motors on my driver's door actuator. I have a
couple of things I noted for anyone planning on doing this in the future.

1. Don't lower the window too far or you wont be able to get your arm in far enough to reach the 2nd window glass catch past the regulator.

2. I could not get the clips on the rear part of the handle to release from inside the door. However, I found access easy from outside, between the 2 parts of the handle. See photo:

Qatar 2014 LR2 2.0T SE Auto Ipanema Sand

Hi,

How can determine which actuators I need to order?

2014 LR2 petrol 2.0T SE Spec.

LR Parts seem to suggest there are two types

My rear RH door doesn't lock (sometimes unlocks)

The latches have LH and RH versions as well as front and rear.

https://www.advancedfactors.co.uk/rear-door-hardware-12636-c.asp

But AFAIK the internal motors are all the same - one big , one little per latch

Thanks for the great write up. I followed these instructions and got the job done fairly easily.

I was finding that the door (O/S/F) didn't unlock on the remote but if I tried it several times it would occasionally open. I've fitted the new latch/lock actuator unit and I still have exactly the same behaviour Big Cry . Anyone know why that might be?

You need to run a diagnostic on the door module, with a suitable diagnostic device. It'll tell you what the issue is. Hyundai Ioniq 5 Ultimate. The family car.

Do you know if my cheapy diagnostic device would cover that? I'd check but I've loaned it out to a mate. I'll have to try and get it back tomorrow.

If it covers all modules, then it should give errors on the door modules. If it's just OBD2, then it'll give engine information only. Hyundai Ioniq 5 Ultimate. The family car.
