It's not too difficult a job, just a bit time consuming. Fuel filter needs removing to change glow plugs, so fit a purflex while your at it.Two birds n all that, less than £80 in parts from memory. I think that yours will be the 5.5v glow plugs, and there is some kind of relay under the scuttle. Your system is different from my 2010 model. Good luck

In the past I've used Mann in mine a couple of times with no problems. Currently using a Bosch fuel filter, this is the second Bosch filter for the car so I can vouch for those too.

No idea. I have used Purflex, which As far as I understand are the ones used by landrover.. My fuel filter problem was in hot weather when towing near ( or over 🤕 ) capacity up hill. Was a very warm day, car had no power foot to the floor in 2nd gear. Change of filter, same load, similar temperature, same road, many times since, no issue!!!!!! Go figure!!!!! These are very temperamental cars, but when running well, IMHO, can not be beaten!!!!. Bon courage !!

Yes I'll keep you posted. As it's an intermittent problem it's a pig to solve.
Did the change of glowplugs and battery not help your situation then?


It did not, still experiencing a slow start around 0C, from 4+ its starts to behave normally.

No smoke either & if I stop the car after the initial start, it starts right away.

Could it be the fuel pump maybe/?

I agree entirely which is why I'm looking after mine the best I can! Had a look at the alternatives but nothing really appeals. Either don't like the look of them and/or nasty low driving position.

My understanding is that the fuel filter has a thermostatic valve.
If returning fuel is less than 10C then most of it is returned to the engine via the filter and mixed with cold fuel coming up from the tank .
If returning fuel is more than 20C then most of it is returned to the fuel tank.

The dodgy filters dont have this valve and too much hot returning fuel is returned back to the engine via the filter allowing the fuel to get too hot. So dodgy filters tend to cause rough running when the engine is hot.
