United Kingdom 2010 Freelander 2 TD4_e XS Manual Stornoway Grey
7 months of ownership

Well the first MOT went well. We bought the Freelander as a cheap high mileage vehicle for use as my wife's daily driver plus going up to the horses (going round the fields etc). My wife didn't want anything newer or more expensive due to the animals bumping into it, scratching it on bushes, chance of sliding into a fence post etc!

The Freelander fitted the bill perfectly. We've had it 7 months now and done a fair few jobs on it...

Front pads
Rear wiper arm and blade
Rear pads
Rear discs
Rear shoes
Rear calipers
Rear shocks
Tailgate switch (and complete handle piece sprayed to match)
Replacement LED number plate lights
New bonnet struts
New keyfob cases
Rear droplinks
New AGM battery
New gear stick gaiter
Replacement lower intercooler hose

Today was MOT day, it flew through. Just an advisory on front discs but a comment on how well they passed with no juddering, the advisory was just on visuals, and an advisory for very slight play in the offside front drop link.

For a 2010 it has done a great job, we've been very happy with it.

I'll order a pair of droplinks to replace on a free weekend, but no rush. This will go somewhere in the list of jobs to do! Front brakes I'll leave until the next set of pads are needed.

Current to do list...

Fit reversing camera (have this ready to fit, just got to get round to it)
Fix reversing sensor (front inner left is causing it to switch off)
Replace glow plugs
Service Haldex unit (got service kit ready)
Fit a stitch on leather steering wheel cover (got this ready - the steering wheel has deteriorated and feels/looks horrible)

All in all though we've been very pleased with it, probably spent about £400-£450 on it but it drives like a new car now.

Currently on 175,000

Rear shocks were originals and very much past their best.

I imagine that in time the front shocks will need replacing but for now they are working.
