2013 Freelander 2 SD4 Dynamic Auto Santorini Black

Are Seats Warranteed???????

I was looking at my drivers seat yesterday and it looked in pretty good nick (27K/19mths) but what appeared to be a crease (on the side panel of the "squab"(?) - the thin small the side panel on the seat base that faces you as you look in through the door) is inactual fact a fine split. You can see through to the lining.

Now it doesn't look too bad at the moment but will obviously get worse with the passage of time.

Would this sort of thing be covered under my warrantee?

If not, do you think it would be easy to have repaired??

Apart from that my car is still in stunning condition.

sounds like the same as mine

took it to the dealer, looked at it and ordered it straight away under warranty

Said it was the first FL2 he had seen do it, but had just replaced a D3 the other day due to same Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

Thanks for that.

Service Manager agreed to change my seat under warrantee, this morning.

Said it shouldn't have happened.

Just noticed that my drivers seat also has a tear in the same place so its a trip to lakeland. Were your seats full leather or cloth/part leather?

To be honest if I had one criticism of my Freelander its the quality of the Leather/pvc or whatever it is thats used on the seats, doesnt look like it will be very hardwearing.

My seats are full leather and... with regard to quailty...

The seats don't seem too bad to me but... a couple of cars back I had an Audi TT and after 75000 miles the driver's seat still looked good. Whereas... my last car was an Alfa GT and after 13000 miles the driver's seat was was showing real signs ofd wear.

The main body of my Freelander driver's seat looks as new. It was just the side of the squab. It's obviously something to do with getting in and out.

The real question is... when they replace my seat howdo I prevent it happening again??

i would have said a leather feeding lotion,

but the sides of the seats are pleather or fake leather if you prefer

i regularly feed my seats with Raceglaze leather balm, but it still had no effect Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

Today I like Rangerider was looking on my seat and discovered a nick

My FL2 is 2 years old and 31600 km (19600 miles)

2011 Freelander 2 TD4 GS Manual Rimini Red

Had drivers seat on my 08 FL 2 replaced about 9 months ago - cloth not leather. They just replaced the seat squab cover.

Nine months later back to same condition so it looks like underlying foam is to blame.

If it wears through it will be going back under warranty. There's always a way forward!

I have posted my concerns before about seat quality in particular the fact that despite how you get in or out of the vehicle the drivers seat side squab nearest the door always seems to get creased. I don't think the foam used for the squabs is hard or resilient enough, its too easily crushed which allows the leather covering to crease leading ultimately to splitting or cracks.
Good to have the reassurance that other forum members appear to be having no problems in getting seats remedied under warranty.

Unfortunately dealers of LR (just LR) in Russia respond to cars owners not always well. It is not only my opinion, it is the common opinion of russian site lr-club.ru members.
For example a dealer in Yekaterinburg refused to accept an analogous incident as warranty. Therefore before a visit to my dealer I want to stock adequate arguments.

2007 Freelander 2 TD4 SE Manual Sumatra Black

I too have had my drivers seat cover replaced in the last few weeks. Cars is 35 months old so coming near to the end of its warranty. I was wondering if anyone had had any experience of getting one of these covers replaced outside of the warranty period, although given the age of the Freelander 2 this may be no one or a very small number.

For what they cost to buy and maintain, these cars really are a pile of 5hit. Great concept, poor execution.
