2.2 ford engine in 2013 FL2

Hi
is this engine the one that was also used in the defender?
Doesn't make any difference to me but just curious.

England 2011 Freelander 2 TD4 XS Manual Baltic Blue

No different engines although both built by Ford.

The Freelander used a Peugeot/Citroen designed engine but built for LR by Ford.
The Defender used the Ford Transit engine initially a 2.4 litre but then a 2.2 litre

Seems not…. According to Wikipedia…

DEFENDER

    2007-2011 - Duratorq ZSD-424 / 2.4L
    2011-2016 - Duratorq ZSD-422 / 2.2L. This engine is unrelated to the PSA DW12 2.2

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_Duratorq_engine#2.2

Freelander 2 - Based on the PSA DW12 engine
    2011–2014 - Duratorq 150 PS (eD4)
    2006–2014 - Duratorq 160 PS (TD4)
    2006–2014 - Duratorq 190 PS (SD4)

What's in a name?

Both 2.2 litre both called Duratorq.
The Defender version ZSD-422 is "This is unrelated to the PSA DW12 2.2"
Freelander version "Based on the PSA DW12 engine"

Both quotes taken from Wiki - who we know is always right Whistle

Having owned both I can categorically state they are not the same engines. Laughing Current driveway contents:

2009 FL2 dog bus and shooting wagon

On Order: 2023 Fisker Ocean Ultra - deposit paid.

The PSA DW12 is much better, more powerful, more economical, less agricultural. Thumbs Up Hyundai Ioniq 5 Ultimate. The family car.
2009 Rimini Red SE TD4. Gone.
2006 Tonga Green i6 HSE. Gone.
Audi A5 convertible, my daily driver.
1972 Hillman Avenger GT, the project.

Nice to know there is a difference Whistle
TBH I've come to FL2s from TD5 defender which is/was a great engine for the defender.
Never had the luxury of engine mated to auto box with defender so the 2.2 seems a natural fit to the auto box.
