Headlamp upgrades with DRL

Happy New Year!

I was thinking about getting one of these front foglight with driving lights upgrades and wondered if anybody out there had tried them? Previous

Yup, I fitted these from Powerful UK - they're E-marked, which appealed. https://www.powerfuluk.com/vehicles/pickup...ype-2.html

The only issue I've had is the auto switch-off when you turn on side lights (they legally have to dim or switch off at that point). Because I have LED sidelight bulbs there's not enough resistance in the circuit, so the DRLs switch off fine when you turn on your lights, but there's a residual 2.5-3v kicking around on that circuit when you switch the lights off again and the DRLs won't switch on again until you switch the car off completely.

I've tested with normal bulbs in the sidelights and it works perfectly as it should. I'm split between installing resistors on the sidelight circuit, or just fitting the DRL control board that Powerful sell that dims the DRLs rather than switches them off completely. I've tested that on another car with LED sidelights and it works as expected.

Or you can get a slightly different style of DRL with the controller included https://www.powerfuluk.com/vehicles/pickup...der-2.html Current driveway contents:
2021 V60 Cross Country B5
2009 FL2 dog bus and shooting wagon

On Order: 2023 Fisker Ocean Ultra - deposit paid.

DRL lights

Thanks NoDo$h,

The ones I was looking at had the circular LED pattern: https://www.powerfuluk.com/vehicles/pickup...ype-5.html

And i suppose I could then add the controller board for £21.

After all, I'm about to change the front bumper to the 2010 upgrade

I'm also tempted to leave well alone until prices of the 2012 signature headlamps cool down.

Hi Markduc

Is that the one that comes with the DRL control board - or did you buy it separately? Previous

We have just ordered a set of the fog/drl lights from powerfuluk, the £98 pair. Then just wait for mechanics to fit them.

Scotland 2014 Freelander 2 TD4_e Dynamic Manual Fuji White

I ordered my car with standard halogens and the lights were crap! Not long driving out the dealership, I got an Indy to activate the CCF and he enabled xenon lights. Then I ordered a pair of 2014 xenon headlamps from LR they cost me £2,399.99 for the pair. You can’t put a price on safety and the light output is immense and no more popping bulbs!

But Censored In September 2014 the last of the MY15 Freelander 2’s came out and the metropolis had the black reflector in the headlamps which tied in well with the factory black pack on the dynamic.

So I ordered a pair of Metropolis Xenons for another £2,399.99.

Since then I have and still do have a surplus pair of Xenons headlamps HID UK (white reflector)

Not sure what they are worth tbh Whistle MY14 Kahn Converted Dynamic - Fuji White Ebony/Pimento Interior

Hi LR NUT,

I'd be interested in your surplus signature headlights.

I'll try to PM you.

this is a good read ........ especially the guy who re-wired the inside of the headlamps, saves on costs.
