CCF = car configuration file. It has to be edited using a quality diagnostic reader & then re written into the computer. The menu option that Lightwater is referring to is not available on your model year, as far as I am aware. (Now Sold). 2008 Freelander 2 (Nazca Sand) SE TD4 Auto. Statutory write off & on WOVR for hail damage but still road legal.

Ah, that makes sense.I've started looking into getting a proper diagnostic setup, though it takes some time to work out what each option can actually do. Could be a good investment though.

That's great - but you haven't had mice in your wiring, I'm guessing! Actually, the brushes in my starter motor were history at only 84,000 km. An easy fix but nor reassuring. They do have a good reputation, otherwise I wouldn't have bought one. |

I had a rat chew wiring behind the dash in a Lancia Beta in the 1970s. Never worked out where it originated from, but almost had an accident when it ran over my feet. One should wear shoes! Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

Well, I got stuck in over the long weekend and still can't find any evidence of rodent damage. This thing has sucked up soooooo much time! There isn't much of the wiring loom I haven't unearthed and carefully inspected by now, sigh.

A tiny bit of progress today, on this long-running problem. I managed to get some time with a commercial scanner and have found what is causing the airbag light to stay on (this is the most urgent issue, as a warrant of fitness is due soon and it won't pass if I can't turn that light off). The scanner reported a fault: B1196-87 intermittent Driver's side second row peripheral acceleration sensor.

Have you downloaded the wiring diagrams that are available on the forum? If not, do so, as that will be a starting point.

I have done that, thanks. Unfortunately, the diagramme I found doesn't tell you the actual location of things, just how they join together. |

Though it does give two colour options for the wires (driver/passenger, RHD/LHD) so I could trace them if it came to that. Which is the slow way to do it! |

The wires for the peripheral acceleration sensor were an easy fix and the dashboard light is off - so should be good for the upcoming warrant of fitness inspection.

After having two cars' wiring looms chewed by rodents on the same night ! I now keep these wedged in the engine bays of my cars.

Thanks. Some way to go yet but at least it's legal. I don't really care about the nav screen (it runs a Japanese DVD and rejected a New Zealand one anyway), reversing camera or rear sensors. Not having a radio or any audio is far more annoying. I guess the system needs those fibre optic cables, sigh. I'll have to investigate how fixable those are! |
