Whilst topping up my washer fluid, I noticed that the Heater Air Inlet Channelling that runs across under the windscreen, at the rear of the bonnet, was quite clogged up with leaves and general dirt.

I have found with previous cars that it is important to keep this clear (including the 2 drains at either side), as it can be disastrous if water gets into the internal heating ducts as they often contain electronic components. FL2 XS SD4 Auto 2010 2012-2017 (21k - 91k miles) (MY2011)

I agree I always clean the out when the car is washed also do the funny little rubber flap things at the side of the struts.

I have had the plastic panel off. The entire area was covered in dust, but it does drain well, and it is interesting how the whole area is designed, it makes sense. If you take the battery cover off reach to the side, there is a funnel to channel the water away underneath. The front edge of the plastic is easy enough to lift to look under, but if you want to take it off you need to remove the wipers.

If you do take it off, take off the strip of plastic on the bottom edge of the windscreen. The muck which collects in the is pretty amazing.

Yeah just had that opened, it was pretty clean but there were some little seeds that had settled into the drain holes. Hopefully they float.

that reminds me of my series 2A LWB Station Wagon,
the seeds in the sliding window channels used to grow given the chance. DAVE.
