glow plugs module

Greetings to the whole community.
Could someone please tell me where the glow plug control unit is located on the 2008 FL Td4 2?

I believe it is just a relay in the engine compartment fuse/relay box, not a module as in the later Freelander 2s.

This should be it. The one shown in the link you posted is the fuse box. There are the fuses and the relay that controls the glow plugs. There should also be the control unit that I showed you in the picture.

From my research before changing my own glowplugs.

For chassis numbers up to AH999999 the glowplugs are LR001302 11volt controlled by main ECU via relay in fusebox as previously stated.

From chassis number BH000001 the glowplugs are LR022300 5volt and do have a separate controller. I think this is MY2011 onwards

As your vehicle is 2008 I would suggest the first option applies, and no separate controller. Andy

In other words, since there is no separate controller, to check if the glow plugs receive current, first of all I have to check fuse F4, Relay R4 and fuse F1.
Secondly, I'll have to check the wiring.

Yup that's correct and if it makes you feel any better I will also be doing the same thing suspecting that all of Phoebe's glow plugs are dead Rolling Eyes

If you haven't already checked or changed glowplugs I would suspect them first. For a 2007 vehicle they are likely to be dead. My 2009 had 4 duff plugs. Andy

I already changed the glow plugs last year. But I have only recently been having difficulty starting when the weather is cold. Among other things, the preheat warning light no longer lights up. So I suspect the integrity of the glow plug circuit.

I had already read your thread and the fuses are okay, haven't checked the relay yet

Have you checked that you fitted the correct ones. When I did mine I hadn't realised that there were 2 types and although 50/50 chance I had fitted the wrong ones which burnt out straight away. Silver 2009 HSE

Sorry I wasn't clear. I meant the glow plugs. There are 5 volt and 11 volt ones. I had originally fitted the 5 volt ones not realising that 2 types were available. Silver 2009 HSE
