My i6 had side steps fitted and I was going to take them off as the securing rivets on the steps were corroded to , but on inspection of the brackets the nuts had corroded solid in the rivnuts in the floor pan and just turned the rivnuts, so I repe I repe aired the rivets and kept the steps on.

Before you attempt to turn the nuts soak them in loads of penetrating fluid for a few days.

It was a lovely car though, same colour. Regards

Thanks, but I removed mine very easily in about 40 mins. I did have the WD40 handy but ended up not needing to use it.

I took the stick on type wind deflectors off quite rapidly too, just using some string! The harder part was removing the sticky tape residue from the bodywork, but a plastic deep freeze de-icer tool made short work of it. So no need for the hairdryer at all.

Does anyone have a diagram of the engine with gearbox and all ancillaries attached? Just interested to understand how they are 'joined up'.

Some more recent photos with the current state of play.

The side steps, side window wind deflectors and the light guards all sold within a couple of hours of going for sale on the Facebook LR Freelander 2 Owners Group marketplace. Unfortunately I was unable to post in the FS section here due to being a new boy. The original wheels will be the last items to be put up for sale, in the next day or two.

Work to be done now:

Have the drivers seat usual tear repaired. I may also get the seat base 're-stuffed' with new foam. I'm thinking it best that the new panel is real leather, instead of pleather. Just hope that Tundra is still available in small quantities.

Fill in the holes in the front bodywork where the light guards were fitted, then touch them up with Stornoway Grey.

Obtain and fit a rear spoiler. I think they finish off the roofline very well.

Spray over in black the white tow bar electrics plug.

Once they arrive, fit the LR centre wheel caps.

Change the Goodyear Eagle SUV tyres for Michelin Cross Climate 2s.

Finally, booked in at Broadfields, the local LR independent, for an oil change and plug into the LR code reader to see what, if any, error codes get thrown up.

Probably enough to be going on with for the time being!
