Simon, I was told many years ago that all Tesco stations are Shell. If you see the small atesco,s with a filling station they are all badged Shell. I will ask next week when I fill up. Always fill up when I get down to half a tank. Don,t understand people who wait till the light comes on. Jim A

Thanks, Jim, but they’re certainly not Shell over here in Norn Iron - Shell doesn’t operate here. Plus, Tesco have to buy their petrol from someone and just because, say, Shell supply them doesn’t mean that the additives that Shell would put in their own branded fuel are also in the stuff they supply to Tesco. Having said that, I don’t detect any significant difference between BP Regular and Tesco fuel, but the engine is definitely smoother at idle and low revs with BP Ultimate. And while it’s hard to be precise about fuel consumption in short urban trips, the Ultimate does seem to be a bit more economical which helps to offset the extra cost. |

Small Tesco forecourts are operated by Esso in England… is Shell a Tesco Scotland thing?

There are, it seems, some 197 Esso owned and operated forecourts with Tesco shops. Shell is tied in with Waitrose and BP with M&S. Asda was selling off its entire forecourt business to EG Group for £750m but the deal fell through and was abandoned in October 21. All a little though… |
