I think that the xenon's are standard on the HSE Lux and Metro models.
From my own experience they are a must if you do much night driving, as the later model standard lights are poor as they substitute the high beam lights (of the older models) for LED safety lights. FL2 XS SD4 Auto 2010 2012-2017 (21k - 91k miles) (MY2011)
FL2 Metropolis SD4 Auto 2014 2017- (16k - 79k+ miles) (MY2015)
Metro in its 11th Year of (Extended) LR Warranty / Full LR Service History
(Expensive, but Trouble/Worry free - hopefully?)

If it’s £616+vat for just the cambelt,water pump & mot that’s very expensive.

No, It's a full 7 year service, plus cam belt, tensioner, pulley, MOT, collect and re-deliver.
Seems pretty good to me....

We bought a 13reg XS in 2020 and apart from footwell lights , creak and leak (sunroof) and heated steering wheel it has everything on that a HSE has ...PLUS... not all HSE's have reverse camera, a fifth 19inch alloy, blacked out windows or a rear spoiler. It also has a twin electric towbar so I would advise you to just check the specs of the second hand ones. Most XS's were speced up a bit when sold new, not many are standard XS.

The 10 year service should include belts / water pump, gearbox oil, rear difc and ptu oil changes.

IMHO I'd go for a 2013> XS over an older HSE .

what Bob says, later XS were very well specced as were the dynamic (which is basically just an XS with body kit)

also agree with the side steps dilemma although i would like a set of black side bars

As previously mentioned by others, many FL2's were up specced by original owners, my 2014 Dynamic was and has all the bells and whistles I wanted.

Don't limit yourself to specific models - have a list of must haves & go by that - the Brochure links posted by IanMetro are a great place to start drawing up your list of wants.

One item I do like, is the sunroof (had it on my old one), are they showing signs of leaks no a days, or pretty reliable?

Mine does not have a sunroof, nor did I want one.

LR don't have a good record with being able to build non leaky sunroofs... But that said, with the FL2 being more Ford than LR perhaps they are more reliable, I think a few have had some issues (I seem to think there was a thread recently about a noisy sunroof?) but from browsing the forum I don't think there are any major issues.

I don't see any point in a sunroof when you have climate control.
They are just more trouble than they are worth.

I open my sunroof once or twice a year, just to make sure it still works, then close it straight away.

Sunroof's were a fad in the 1980's, because few cars had aircon.

The sunroof lets more light in giving the cabin a light and airy feel. I seldom had mine open but never had any issues with leaks etc,but given the choice I would always pick a sunroof if at all possible. The "fad" still continues today but the sun roof now tends to be a full length glass panel (that does not open) but lets in loads of light!

A sunroof is one thing my car lacks and I really miss it. I'd forgo air con for a sunroof actually! It was nice a few years ago having the choice to open a sunroof or turn on ac it seems they are few and far between nowadays. Landrover - turning owners into mechanics since 1948

That is a lot better than what my main dealership quoted me £1350 & that did not include the rear differential oil change

Evening all.

A quick question. I've reduced my search to two cars but have some queries.

The first is a 2011 (61) HSE with completely clean MOT & Service History. 90k Miles, Camblet Done
The second a 2013 (63) HSE with Service history, and cambelt. 102k miles and some advisories on MOT for "play in steering rack inner joints" It's also previously had NS/OS front track rod end ball joints repaired.

Of the above, what's your thoughts? Would you go for the newer/higher mileage option or stick with the clean 2 year older one?

FYI, the 2013 also includes heated stearing but no spoiler. The 2011 has no tinted windows but includes everything else. Both have the 19" wheels.
