Have a look at this thread and check to make sure no connections are loose or dislodged in the passenger footwell behind the glove box.

Also, the GAP should allow you to clear and reset crash mode.

OK, so more time tonight trying to figure this out.

The only fault code is the one detailed above, and it recurs when cleared.

When the fob is inserted it chimes and when the start button is pressed the dash goes through the normal self test but the engine doesn't start (doesnt turn over at all). Steering unlocks and the shifter unlocks.

If I lock the dorrs with the fob the alarm sounds after 1 minute.

One thing has changed and thats the message center illuminates but doesnt display anything.

I've tried resetting the crash mode but it tells me that the operation has failed and gives me an E5 code. Search of the internet only reveals other people trying to find out what the E5 code means.....useful.

Interestingly, and this may be nothing, about 4 years ago I had two new keys coded. I binned one of the old keys but kept the second one for a spare shell. Tonight I picked up the wrong key, however it did everything a fob should do. I had thought that once a new key was coded the old ones didnt work anymore????

So I now have a nanocom on its way and can borrow a JLR SDD but it wont be here until next week. 57 SE i6

Ok, so the nanocom doesnt tell me anything i dont already know.

However, I'm confident this isnt a BCM issue. The message centre has stopped working and the error code in the BCM appears to be refer to losing coms with the message centre. Why that would stop it dead i do mot know.

If anyone is interested in a non running i6 then let me know 57 SE i6

Ok, thanks for the suggestions.

All fuses and relays checked or swapped as appropriate.

Hard reset done numerous times.

Nothing displayed in message centre when moving the shifter because as highlighted in an earlier post the message centre has stopped working. This is the only thing that has changed apart from not starting.

Checked the wires under the airbox as per the video. No signs of damage.

I'll post a video of the dash when the starter button is pressed. 57 SE i6

Even when mine didn’t start it had messages (or at least symbols) in the LCD displays…..yours are dead……I know it’s a long shot but maybe the loom to the cluster has a bad connection? It might stop the vehicle from going further as it runs the checks….best of luck matey. Regards

Well, if the recurring error code is the crash mode status, then you will need to get to a LR dealer or the JLR SDD programmer and software if the GAP tool won't cut it.
