Land Rover towbars

Hi,

There is a lot on here about towbars but none of the items quite answers my question, perhaps I am just thick but maybe someone could give me an easy answer. I have purchased a second hand LR towbar with dual electrics for my ten year old Freelander two, fitting it seems easy enough but I am curious about the electrics. The two sockets are wired into a single plug which should connect to the LR connector already in place but do I need to do anything else upgrade any fuses or relays or ECU.

Thanks for your help.

Nigel

For your 2010 model the CCF will need editing to tell the car when tow electrics are plugged in, otherwise your reversing sensors will go off as they detect your trailer or tin tent.

Don't believe it's essential, just saves annoyance.

I would also check and confirm you have the correct loom to connect to yours, as 2013 models are just plug and play.

Your electrics kit, thinking back to my MY10 car, should look something like this… but with dual sockets.

2 x 15A fuses in FA9 and FB 5 and the 40A relay in FA11
