Towing in Spain

Hi I just read on a caravan forum that all towed units with an overall length over 12 metres need a long vehicle board on the back of the caravan. That would apply to anyone with a trailer over 7.5 metres shipping length. Has anyone else heard about this? Question

Germany 2010 Freelander 2 TD4_e HSE Manual Alaska White

I did read this in the March(?) issue of the caravan club magazine, and then a correction in the April(?) one saying signs had to be of metal. SInce they had included a picture/illustration I put it to the back of my mind. Nothing in the German ADAC magazine yet. Will post a link if i find out more. Does this replace the red triangle symbol that one sometime sees on the back of spanish caravans?? Freelander 2.2e HSE , Privacy, Fully debadged, 19" Chrome SHadow alloys

As if you wont see the caravan otherwise...

Maybe they all drive stealth-caravans over there.

I just don't get why every EU Country has to have it's own rules for something like this, There must be many people who live close to a border and drive in two Countrys on a daily basis.
In Spain you cannot have a cycle carrier on the back of a caravan, in France you can, In Austria you have to have your lights on at all times, in switzerland you don't. Very confusing.
