Novel problem?

Hi everyone. I've looked through the site but haven't come across the problem I have. Basically after about a hour driving, if I stop the engine and then restart, the screen shows flashing L/R logo and the radio/CD/satnav doesn't work. The satnav is under the drivers seat and clicks and whirs in time to the screen flashing.
From cold all works as it should until it warms up and have to restart the engine. This has been as long as 4 hours driving (until I had to stop for fuel!)
I've had it at my local garage and an auto electrician. The garage provided a fault code U3000-04 - intermittent. This corresponds to the control module having an information system internal failure.
The auto electrician report gave 3 faults on the infotainment control modules:
1 U0010-00 medium speed Canbus - No sub type information
2 U1A15-87 Incomplete MOST ring reported by infotainment control module - missing a message
3 U1A24-00 MOST ring complete, no communication - no sub type information.

So there's conflict: fault 2 saying incomplete MOST ring and fault 3 saying MOST ring complete.

I'm not so keen on paying £190 to the main agent, just for them to confirm these faults. I understand they'd want to confirm these faults themselves. I'm not prepared to replace the unit(s) at the main agent's - they did mention £3.5 k as a ball park figure! I expect to replace the damaged unit with second hand - but which one is at fault?
Any ideas and suggestions welcome!
Thanks for reading

Based on the failures that I have experienced and what other have seen I would bypass the Bluetooth Phone module.

For US LR2 we have a Satellite radio module (that you don't have) and the same Bluetooth module. Both are connected to the MOST ring using the orange fiber optic cable.

I have bypassed both Modules using a Fiberoptic loop back (it isn't expensive).

Note: Both modules are bypassed the same way
The Bluetooth module is on the right side of your FREEL2

If you don't use the Bluetooth phone feature then bypassing it won't be a concern

Note: I did bypass the orange fiberoptic cable and I removed the electrical plug for the Bluetooth, you should do both.

After you have done it one it takes about 20 minutes to do it a second time

Good luck

Paul

Thanks for that! I've just ordered a male and female loop, so will try your suggestion when the bits arrive, and report back.
Cheers!

No worries

Note: you only need the female

The male part is already there in your LR2.

Technically the female part is there as well but it is molded into the Bluetooth module

Good luck

Paul

Hi again.
The 2 loops appeared this afternoon, so I started on the Satnav CD unit under the seat as it was the easiest to get to. I also cleaned the CD disk again. On replacing the clean disk, the map display is now zoomed out - 10 miles. How do I get the display to zoom back in? I had it set up for maximum zoom (can't remember the exact figure) but it meant I could glance down and estimate how tight an upcoming bend was. I've had a look in the handbook and it says "the POI button will not be active if the zoom is above 1km" But it doesn't say how to change it and I can't remember what I did! old age setting in!
Anyone able to help with simple instructions?

I used the bypass loop on the satnav CD player and it had no effect on the flashing display, but the clicking and whirring had stopped. To me this suggests the Satnav unit is OK. Tomorrow I'll try to test the blue tooth unit!

Hi.
I've got a small + and - sign above & below where it says 10 miles. If I press either sign, the locator circle moves sideways from my location to another random one. The last attempt put the locator circle in the North Sea off Newcastle. I'll have another try tomorrow.
Thanks for answering!

So.... after MoT and 2 new tyres, a week away with the caravan and rain ('cos I haven't anywhere under cover to work), I've finally managed to play with the fibre optic bypass loop thingy. I bypassed the under seat satnav unit - still flashing. I've dismantled the RHS rear and got access to 2 units, one fastened onto the other. I put the loop onto each in turn and there was still the flashing logo. I'm presuming one of the units is the DAB receiver and the other is the Bluetooth phone module?

I'm going to have a go behind the dash - if anyone has any hints as to how it dismantles to get at the CD/Satnav unit, I'd appreciate even simple things like how to remove the dash facia.

Before tearing everything apart you should remove the Ring Break from the fuse box in the trunk.

As I understand it the Ring break will put the MOST is a diagnostic mode and disable it.

I don't think that you will want to stay in that mode but it should stop the problems.

But it might disable the system entirely

Let us know

Good luck

Paul

Well......
I managed to get a dry day today, so set about unclipping the dash top to get to the screen. Undid the torx screws and got access to the back of the screen, the control module and then the CD player. I bypassed each in turn and when I got to the CD player, everything else worked properly. I double checked by re-linking the MOST into the CD player and the screen went back to the flashing Landrover logo. Bypassed the CD player again - everything else working properly! So it looks like the CD player is the cause of my problems. I found one on Ebay with identical model numbers. so I've ordered it, due to arrive on Friday so I'll keep you updated!
Thanks for all the advice so far

BTW does anyone know a supplier of the springy things that are used to clip the dash top in place? And... one of the torx headed screws holding the top of the touch screen in place?
I managed to knock over the tray of bits onto the gravel parking area and found all but the above 2! Looking for the spilled bits took longer than dismantling the dash! Censored
