South Africa 2008 Freelander 2 TD4 SE Auto Alaska White
Driver's airbag cover warped / lifting

The top and bottom of my driver's side airbag is warped and lifting from years of heat and sun. Does anyone know of a way to fix this without replacing it altogether? It's pretty stiff so I was wondering if gently heating it up and trying to bend it back down would work.

It doesn't seem to be a common issue on here but I'm thinking this seems to be more common in warmer countries like here in South Africa, i have seen a few Freelander 2 for sale here with a similar problem.

Mine is the same. I would be interested in a remedy.

It’s not unusual at all. Replacement airbag is the only way to really fix it. To heat & bend back in position will require removal of the airbag assy (not for the inexperienced). I am happy to live with mine as it is. (Now Sold). 2008 Freelander 2 (Nazca Sand) SE TD4 Auto. Statutory write off & on WOVR for hail damage but still road legal.

@ alex_pescaru, thanks for the reminder alex_pescaru, but you will still have to pay for a new airbag. I did try a few years back & got as far as telling the local dealer where he could fit it Rolling with laughter . (Now Sold). 2008 Freelander 2 (Nazca Sand) SE TD4 Auto.
