Drivers window control panel

I have done a search but haven't found what I'm looking for unfortunately. One of the rear window control buttons on the switch cluster panel has detached. A new panel seems to be readily available and not too expensive but my question is, can it be replaced without taking the door card off ? or is it fixed in place from the underside.

Looking at it I would say you have to remove the door card.

No, it can’t be replaced without first removing the door card. (Now Sold). 2008 Freelander 2 (Nazca Sand) SE TD4 Auto. Statutory write off & on WOVR for hail damage but still road legal.

It's not difficult to take the door card off. 2 screws behind the door handle cover trim (sharp tug from bottom edge), 1 behind the lock, 1 in door pocket & don't forget the screw on the trailing edge.

It is easier to have the window down for when you reconnect the locking mechanism. So start the job with the window down.

Do not pull the card by the pocket. Lever off starting at the bottom rear corner, with quick sharp tugs, you are less likely break clips this way. If a couple do break re-space them. Door liners clips LR013135 if you need more than a couple.

Once the clips are all free & the panel is swung away, give it a bit of a bash up to free it. Then remove the 2 electrical plugs & locking cable. Putting back the locking cable is not difficult but it does need lining up so be a bit patient. Reason for having the window down to see it better. Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!
