That's ok - you only really need to change the filter.
No need for another lot of new oil.

Firstly I would like to thank all the contributors
New owner working and checking the FL2 09 from end to end
So far so good but a little feedback on the oil filter

I can see why it get left and after reading the post that its known not to chenged I was really keen to change it and do a couple of "quick " oil changes ( like an engine flush )

anyway the oil filter housing was tight and having a decent set of tools available sockets . spanners , straps etc it was not budging and a bit frightened to damage the housing / cap
I ordered a repancement "cap" and a couple of different sockets and still unable to get a ratched on the socket just too tight without removing the coolong fans
.I had also ordered the 27mm flexible ratechet and Simple's using no real force and working from underneath it became loose and easy to unscrew takes a bit of time but a Big Thank You to genius who first tried it and all the guys recommending it
I would say there is a bit of a knack to unscrewing it as it as it slipped off few when returning the ratched back to the start point , may be the housing nut is worn but it did nor round off the nut may be worth gettting a mate just to hold it in place , but it did not slip off when tightening
So plus 1 on on the 27 mm flexible spanner 30 min job and thet was a first timer I'll change the cap on the next oil change and now yes it awkward andits even tight to get the cap out to clean and fit a new filter , but once you have done it its a lot easier

Never ceases to amaze me every time I do the filter what a dire design. Plus this may be the reason the filter is so damned small as well, surely that is not good. I have had 2.4l Volvo diesels where the filter was not much smaller than a bucket.
Have to laugh at the Haynes book telling you the torque for the filter housing, might be okay if you have the front end off!

Obviously never bought an Alpha then.
One of my work colleagues bought one - no idea which one and he now drives a 5 series BMW which says a lot. Anyway he took it in for it's first service and was given the option - engine out, or cut and shut the chassis leg to allow enough room to change the oil filter.

Oh so I laughed when he told me, you have to remember we are car nuts and Land Rover doesn't have the best or sportiest reputation.

Could be worse - Disco 3/4 body off for belt changes anyone? Tangiers Orange - gone, missing her
Replaced by Ewok what a mistake - now a happy Disco Sport owner

It only needs to be hand tight. The torque setting is to stop the unthinking from over tightening it. Jules

Its a cinch compared to the Diahatsu Copen.
You have to pass a special small screw-on filter through a gap in the front engine mount from underneath (only fingers can get through it), rotate the filter 90 degrees and screw it on using a cup wrench and ratchet.

You cannot get the small filter anymore and the standard size wont fit through the engine mount. So its off with the bumper & lights, grill and turbo intercooler - a nightmare. Jules

I took the engine out to change the filter. Easy Peasey with a 27mm hex socket. I once nearly bought a Ferrari Mondial Quatroporte, then discovered that the twenty five thousand mile service entailed dropping the whole drive and engine out, twenty odd bolts to change the Cambelts and filter, also reset the tappets. £3000 at the main dealer, people will not buy them second hand without a Main Dealer stamp.
I have an old 27mm cranked head ring spanner, it fits the filter nut in situ, worth keeping an eye out for one at boot sales.
