2007 Freelander 2 TD4 GS Manual Santorini Black
Turns over but won’t start after parking up.

So missus parked up left for couple of hours
Went to go out but will not start.
Hdc warning comes up
Reduced engine performance also comes up
Cranks over good just doesn’t t start
Charged battery
Reset ecu by touching battery leads
Still no joy.
Only had 6 weeks
07 td4 90k on the clock
Any help would be greatly appreciated

Sorry forgot to mention
Plugged in generic obd reader and it communicates with it and says there’s no fault codes

Does the tacho show any sign of life when cranking? You should see about 200 rpm if it’s cranking well. If it’s cranking ok but with no rpm indication, the first thing to check would be the crank position sensor. Not expensive & easy to fit. (Now Sold). 2008 Freelander 2 (Nazca Sand) SE TD4 Auto. Statutory write off & on WOVR for hail damage but still road legal.
171037Km as of 09/05/22
Superchips Bluefin Flash
Nanocom Evo II (also sold)

Ok so as you can guess from my name I’m very new to landrovers
I thought the service indicator was in miles and not days 😂😂 so last service was 391 days ago
Managed to get started with a quick spray of easy start and it’s been ok
Also done a quick full service
I’ve charged the battery
Added the extra earth strap
Done fuel filter
Air filter
Pollen filter
Oil filter (what an arse ache😂)
And new oil and seems to be working fine now.
It seemed like fuel starvation ( well we hope it was)
And battery bringing up the random faults which was a blue hearing I hope
No fault warn8ngs now on startup
Thanx for your help chaps will see how it goes

Glad to hear its going OK now.
Welcome to the forum BTW.

CKP sensor failure is a common cause of sudden non-starting yet cranking over. Easy to replace.
The oil filter is best got at with a 27mm flexible head ratchet spanner.

You can obtain a free JLR service manual from this forum. Search for "workshop/ service manual" - there is a link to download the pdf.
Its invaluable. Jules
