Had my 2010 auto into Taggarts landrover today for the JLR post lockdown check.
Full check over, update any thing needed. Oil and filters changed all for £149 inc vat.
Only had the car 4 weeks and thought this would be a good thing.
Some advisories I knew about, abs light on sometimes traced to rubbing the tyre on lull lock.
Will fix that. Slight oil leak at back of engine to be investigated. Report not too bad.
Recommended 4 new tyres which I had already decided to do before winter, 3 at 4mm 1 at 3.5mm
Although here is the question.
On way home at times auto would not change up properly and hold a lower gear for a time.
Eventually cleared and drove ok. Will try a run tomorrow’s.
Any ideas chaps?

My FL2 Auto will hang onto lower gears if started from cold as it keeps revs up to recharge battery.

This is most noticeable on cold, wet, dark mornings in winter when initial electric use is high.

Is your battery ok, and are you going far enough to recharge it from starting.

The FL2 is very sensitive to having a reasonably new battery, otherwise all kinds of random problems will occur. FL2 XS SD4 Auto 2010 2012-2017 (21k - 91k miles) (MY2011)

Tha battery is good, chsrgedv up at Taggarts as part of the post lockdown offer.
Reading 12.81. I appreciate the need for a good battery from my Disco 2 days.
Tha car would not change up for periods of about five minutes then run normally till next time I had to stop and then kept I low gears again. Did eventually clear.. will try today to see if still happening.
If so, what next?

The FL2 learns your driving style, so if you drive like a grandad it will change up early and give a relaxed drive.
If you drive her like you stole her (or lend her to your20 something son) then she will hold onto the gears for a sportier drive.
Disconnecting the battery resets the learned behavior to a sportier drive, give her around 40 miles and she will settle down to the previous settings. Tangiers Orange - gone, missing her

Went for a short 10 mile round trip this morning and car running perfectly.
After 4 weeks ownership decided to have a closer look at command shift.
Figured it quite quickly. Seen various comments about which way up or down is best.
I found it similar to my old BSA 650 Superrocket over 55 years ago.
Drive it like an older motorbike. Like. One down, three up. Or more with six speed box.
Probably will never use it but knowing how to is an advantage if the need arises.
Still miss my zDisco 2 auto but learning to love the Freelander2.
With things easing up here will be able to get some serious miles in.
