AC not working

Hi all,

Just joined here today as normaly i find the asnwers to my probelms here but this is the first time i haven't.

I'm having some problems with the AC. we went through the normal solution of topping up the coolent. This made no diffrence we then had it checked for leaks no leaks. Had the pressure sensor changed to fix and the compressor unit has been checked and so we was just womdering what else could it be? A autoelectrician has had a look and says that the singal is being sent to tell the car to be turned on but the controller that controls it isnt sending any power to the AC unit. I'm just wondering if there is another ECU apart from the cars main ECU that controls this or any other ideas on what could cuase this would be apreciated very much. Side note could this affect the functionality of the keys as they have both started playing up around the same time.

Cheers

Glyn

Hi Glyn and first of all welcome.

Is this an inherited problem (recently purchased) or was it working before and now given up the ghost?

Not sure what ac compressor looks like on freel2 but I just today replaced the ac clutch on my wife's vw tiguan. Centre bolt came loose allowing the splines on the clutch to wear away. Cheap easy fix, replacement clutch cost £12. Worth checking? Landrover - turning owners into mechanics since 1948

Do you know that there is a workshop manual attached to this site.

Climate control starts about page 1633.

If you download it, you can use your browser/document search for 'air conditioning'.

I think that quite a few things like signals from sensors and other control units can effect its operation.

Have you any other clues - fault codes or other things not working? FL2 XS SD4 Auto 2010 2012-2017 (21k - 91k miles) (MY2011)

Have you had a diagnostic read done on the HVAC system? That's the place to start. The HVAC module will know why the compressor isn't being activated, and will store an associated code. Hyundai Ioniq 5 Ultimate. The family car.

I've a similar problem on mine though air con blows fine whilst moving but when pootling or stationary it blows ambient. I can here a motor/pump (near offside front wheel area) regularly periodically kicking in whilst stationary.

I've had a regas guy come look at it and there was nothing obvious wrong. He found the pressure fluctuated between 100 & 300psi, apparently it should be constant around 150psi.

He ran a diagnostic through and couldn't see anything from his experience/work type to help and pointed me in the direction of an auto-electrician instead with a view to a fan being faulty or the controls for it....

I'm reluctant to throw a load of cash at it as now have a DS on order but would like to sell it privately in normal working order.

Anyone else had this issue? MY14 SD4 HSE LUX, Colour - Santorini Black, Spare Alloy, Privacy Glass, Front & rear SS tread plates, Chrome arse, Official LR coat hanger!! <-- Going soon... Any offers?

I think the rad fan is failing intermittently. Search the forum for rad fan replacement and see if it's in your budget. It could also be the rad fan controller module but that not easily available separately.

Thanks pal,

I did some more digging on here and pretty certain this is the same issue as fixed here:
