3 Weeks in...

Well three weeks of ownership of a very fine motor indeed, absolutely superb, but not without events...one instance of verbal abuse at a fuel station...accused of being a planet destroyer and in need of compensation in the trouser department for driving such a monster...being reversed into by a a 20 stone moron in a Peugeot 306 resulting in a split front spoiler....and an arguement with a git for wedging his door up against mine whilst he scrambled out of his Micra...apart from that great! Thumbs Up 09MY TD4 HST Auto Stornoway Napoli in Ebony Black Side Tubes + Side Protection Strips

The only people I have had pass comment about my car were nice people who really liked the look of it. When I was on holiday in Devon last year it was though no-one had ever seen one before - I almost started to give guided tours around it! Was even approached by the Security Guard at my local petrol station (a big Censored ex-bouncer type) who was fascinated by it - probably wanted it for a couple of drive-bys or something Rolling with laughter Now - 2017 BMW X3 M Sport Carbon Black

You can always say the following:

The first 75000 kms (45000 miles) is comensated by LR, so I drive that without a footprint.
If it's an TD4_e you can telle them about the start/stop which, theoretically reduces fuel consumption with 20%
Thirdly the LR company works completely CO2 neutral.
4th you get an education when you buy one (LR experience)

And finally, if you look at nature shows on TV, what car are they driving?

What can they tell me about their car and the environment? I bet they have no facts to quote.

Then finish: "Know what you buy, don't just guess!"

I have a stock answer:

As the complainer has no idea for what purpose I drive a Land Rover, they are obviously basing their opinions solely on bigotry and therefore anything they might have to say is worthless.

Unfortunately I've not had any chance to use it yet Smile

I've not had anyone have a go at me verbally at least. However, what really winds me up Twisted Evil is when I'm driving downa country lane and everyone assumes because I have a Land Rover that it wont scratch or dent and I can just trhow it into hedges so they don't have to slow down.

Also it seems that my car is invisible as people always tailgate me for ages on the dual carriageways before they overtake or pull out at the last minute after early smashing into the back of my car Twisted Evil Twisted Evil

All in all - great driving experience but other drivers are f Censored g w Censored s!! Thumbs Up Gone - TD4 XS Auto, Sumatra Black, Mud flaps and side strips, clear indicators, private plate, privacy glass

How about "42.2 mpg and 179 g/km" as they emerge from their grotty little Censored box! They'll never know it isn't a stop/start either B-)

United Kingdom 2007 Freelander 2 TD4 GS Manual Stornoway Grey

My job involves travelling to any one of 30+ work sites up and down the UK. Soon after I got the FL2 one (ignorant) site manager took issue with me about my choice of a "4X4" vehicle. He has no idea that several of my colleagues who also visit his site in petrol driven cars are causing significantly more damage than I am, but he isn't interested in facts; just his own biggoted opinion.

This is what we are up against ....some people will never accept the facts IF the facts don't support their own uninformed views ... I guess thats just life ... Stornoway Grey GS ... What a fine motor Smile ... but not any more ... Big Cry ... psst look at my gallery!
Company cars ... a thing of the past - May 2013.
