Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 3 SUV

About to replace my 10k miles Avon ZX7 junk tyres and considering the Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 3 SUV….

Fuel: C / Wet Grip: A / Noise: 68db /£138 fully fitted at Kwik Fit - less 10% on 2 or more = £124.20=corner.

https://www.kwik-fit.com/tyres/search/deta...v/t1026774

Has anybody fitted these - any thoughts for or against?

Might be worth having a look at National tyres
fitting inclusive at your named branch.

I had GoodYear tyres on my Disco 2.

Verdict: they are NOT Good as they only lasted a Year (or 10K miles)

Three versions of the Eagle 3’s at National - all of which are negligibly more expensive than Kwik Fit's fully fitted which probably makes National the better choice of supplier but…

… based on 3landertwo’s comment immediately above… they may be no better than the little more than 10k miles garbage I am taking off.

Given my (usual non-pandemic) summer mileage of +/- 3k I’d like a set of decent and quiet-ish summer tyres that reach old age retirement before going bald. Smile

If you are after mileage look at the Goodyear Wranglers the F1 is a performer tyre (soft compound) just like the Avon ZX 7. Thumbs Up

I've never rated Goodyears on previous D2 and current Fl2. The Freelander came with new Goodyear Efficient Grips fitted and lasted only 17k before needing changed, pretty poor in my opinion but somewhat better that your Avons 😮. My current set of General Grabber AT3s have now covered in excess of 43000 miles, I swapped them front to rear last month (as I try to do every 5k miles to even the wear.) Measured them and they have 5mm, 5mm, 6mm, 6mm tread remaining. I have no reason to doubt they won't do at least another 15k miles however I will probably replace them coming into next winter as I'd expect them to be hovering around the 4mm mark by then. Probably a bit premature and I could safely and legally run them much longer but I don't like to compromise on tyre safety. Been looking at Michelin Lattitude Cross and BFG ATs as well, both having a reputation for huge mileage potential but maybe you prefer something more road biased? Consider General Grabber GTs they can run to 40k miles with ease. Landrover - turning owners into mechanics since 1948

Tyre woes, after searching and spending hours plus the dilemma of what to do, I have a friend who suggested these Nankang a subsidiary of Hancook tyres, which my front tyres have done 21K just three years old and still have 5mm across the tyre now,
Excellent in the wet, snow plus wet grass. Have driven on these to Switzerland twice, plus Cornwall last year with caravan in tow

Mine are Nankang green sport 235/55 R19 105v XL

Have just changed the rears for same Nankang as previous tyres were Maxxis which were noisy

I paid £209 for two including valves and balance. Cheap to try would recommend if your not bothered about branded tyres.

Hancook have an excellent write up with WRC plus off roaders ie Dakar which I suppose is sand oriented and not tarmac.

I have Nankang winter tyres…. They have been on the car each winter since 2016 and are barely worn. Haven’t considered them for summer tyres though.

Hi Iv just googled them and they are about 100 quid each, so it’s a gamble, if you want longevity and zero cost I would have them, what I think of at 100 quid if you have a puncture near the side wall and the tyre company say sorry it’s a new tyre a hundred quid is better than 150 or more.

The Maxxis although longevity they were noisy these Nankangs are quieter plus cheap.

Have a look at Hancook, like I say WRC and Dakar have good write ups

Branded tyres are so expensive now and don’t last,

With being in the motor trade my motto was to fit what the car was fitted with from the factory the problem is now is cost.

Mine came with Continentals nope not ever refitting them, they only lasted 13months and the shoulders were bald, the dealer said it’s the 4x4 and steering Continentals were poor for that.

Have fun.

I have just fitted 4 Michelin Cross Climate SUV's. Couldn't believe the deal I got online at On Your Drive (Halfords). £480 fully fitted on my drive with voucher code on their homepage. Silver 2009 HSE

I have a FL2 2013 currently fitted with Pirelli Scorpian Zero 235/60.18 which I think are the same as the original factory spec. Need changing soon and was going to replace with Pirelli Scorpian Verde all season.
However had a rethink. I have always found the steering too light and floaty ( although my daily drive is a Defender!) Yesterday had some work done at my local indie and they lent me a 2008 model HSE with 197000 on the clock. It drove very well and the steering seemed weightier and more pleasant for me.
It was running General Grabber AT 235/65 .17 so I wonder if the tyres could make a difference for me? The Grabbers weren't noisy and the car handled very nicely ( for a FL 2 that is !)
Anybody got views on All terrain tyres for normal motoring? FL2 SD4 XS 2013 Orkney Grey

I have Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 3 SUV's on my FL2, LR homologated. Nice quiet drive. Don't know how good they are on grass and/or mud.

What is the wear rate like?

As an aside and not brand specific…. I like the idea of asymmetric tyres rather than directional - they can be rotated side to side as well as front to rear which would work well for my low mileage summer only use. Something like rear to front, front to opposite rear each summer when the winter wheels come off.
