Whine after car stops

Hi, can anyone tell me if they have an issue with some whine, not sure if it is a motor but sounds like something electrical after the car stops? noticed it recently and then cam e out to find battery flat this morning so wondering if there is a connection?
Cheers

There is a similar electrical 'whine' from mine for a few minutes after switching off. It shuts down after several minutes when the car goes into 'sleep mode'. Shouldn't affect your battery. How old is the battery BTW? Might just be time for replacement, these are power hungry cars and a weak battery tends to show up lots of electrical gremlins. Landrover - turning owners into mechanics since 1948

Lots of info on this! Put "Throttle body whine"in the search box and you will find loads of threads discussing your problem! Good luck! Thumbs Up

Oddly enough the i6 has a similar sound after shutdown. Been doing it as long as I can recall, and never hurt the battery.

not sure if this is throttle body issue, it happens even when you just unlock the car and do not start the ignition. Unless the throttle body is activated on unlock? trying to find answers is proving difficult as so far just many opinions! might need to go back to the garage.....grrrr

What you are now saying is different from your original post and is not something that I think has been covered on here before. The garage is probably your best bet unless you can do some detective work and are able to pin down the source of the whining noise! Good luck!

Ok just to clarify the whine is present when the car stops after driving or after you simply unlock the car after several hours of inactivity.
I was not sure if the throttle body motor control should be active as soon as the car is unlocked, I believe if the whine is from the throttle body then it would only be heard once the throttle body control motor has been powered on? Is the power applied on unlocking the car or only once the start button is pressed?
The only videos i can see on YT for throttle body whine are not the same noise that I am hearing, there is no nasty gear grinding/crunching etc for me just a high pitched whine, although maybe it is an early sign?
Plenty of people saying that some kind of whine is normal and nothing to worry about, just a feature! Smile so maybe the battery issue i had was just a coincidence!? could be fan control/pump motor circuit. I will try and investigate when I can and make a video
Will find out over the next few days......Noco GB50 and AA membership to hand Confused Laughing
Cheers

Merlin,

I don’t think that the UK LR2 has the leak detection pump

But I do have this feature on my LR2 and it does make a sound as you described

Take care

Is it the Haldex precharge electric pump?

GEN IV

With cost driven developments being the key factor, the Gen 4 Haldex system, further developed the pre-emptive torque design and removed the heavy differential pump system. The introduction of a hydraulic accumulator, fed by the pre-charge pump could now give more instantaneous coupling response, all kept in check by pressure reducing valves.
