One for Yorkshire members

We've a cottage booked in Kirkby Stephen area in a few weeks and looking to meet up with a cousin who I've not seen for years. He's about 100 miles away, south of Wakefield so we've suggested (Covid allowing) meeting for lunch somewhere midway. Unfortunately, he's new into that area so has as much idea of suitable places to meet as we do.
Any thoughts from anyone in that area would be much appreciated
Thanks

Try the Red Lion at Burnsall a lovely place just past Bolton Abbey. Or the Bistro at the Devonshire Arms ( Bolton Abbey one there are a few Devonshire Arms around ). If you want to drive about 65% of the way come a little further and there is the Shibden Mill Inn , then have a drive into Halifax and have a walk around the Piece Hall . There are hundreds of places at every price point between the two , the ones above are what I’d call upper end , but I’ve eaten at them all , and if the sun is shining you can eat outside at them all . All would be best pre-booked . 2009 GS Auto Zermatt Silver - Sold June 21 after 10 years of ownership

I can definitely agree with the Red Lion at Burnsall. Stayed there a couple of times and dropped in for drinks at other times. Excellent food and location right next to the river but it can get very very busy as the crowds flock to the riverside fields for days out

Unfortunately I can’t advise . All my travelling times to Kirby Stephen tended to be on a super-bike at 5am in the morning before plod came out with their radar Whistle

I just thought we’ve missed out the ultimate Yorkshire meet up , Betty’s Tea Rooms , there is a Branch in Ilkley which would be do-able for both of you . 2009 GS Auto Zermatt Silver - Sold June 21 after 10 years of ownership

Think our running time would be a little longer than yours Wink
Thought Betty's were only in Harrogate - another option, thanks. Sods Law, we'll all be in lockdown again and won't meet up at all!
