Hi all, hope I’m posting in the correct section,I’m Steve from Dorset and am new to Land Rover and am currently looking to buy a freelander 2(my wife and I both work part time and have a puppy so are looking to change the wife’s Mercedes slk for the free lander as it’s no longer practical).I have done a bit of research and found a trusted dealer that specialises in land rovers not far from home and am viewing a 14 plate sd4 gs auto (1 owner car with full service history and 87k miles),apart from annual servicing/brake fluid changes I understand the flexi brake hoses were due changing at 6 years,belts/pump at 7 years and Haldex service ideally every 20k miles?-that aside is there anything else I should be looking for apart from the obvious (body panels/paint matching, underside for damage/corrosion,fluid leaks, all electrics/aircon working, central locking/both keys ok,car has matching tyres and alloys and is hpi clear-sorry to drag my post post out as a freelander soon to be owner and forum newbie! Cool

Hi there and thanks for the welcome-puppy is a sprocker(lovely dog albeit a handful and full of beans Lol!)-forgot to mention I will only be doing between 3/4 k miles a year and am aware 6 month oil changes are a good idea with low mileage use,car will get an 80 mile Round trip every month and at least a 25 mile round trip once a week(mot history shows only one failure for headlight bulb).

Welcome 👍, good choice the GS at that age had a good spec including heated leather seats. My only gripe is the ICE is a bit basic and not upgradeable easily, that aside I have the same year and model on 79k miles and it's been pretty faultless over 3 1/2 years, two tailgate switches aside. Landrover - turning owners into mechanics since 1948

Hello and welcome Steve,
Reading your OP it seems you've checked the essentials Thumbs Up
and I always feel the MOT history can be a good indicator of how
well a motor is cared for ........... Enjoy and some pics required Wink
And thank you for taking the time to introduce yourself too.

Tailgate gets temperamental on opening (or not). Fix is an easy DIY for about £20 or so.
Have look at Powerful UK for the part you’ll need.

I've just brought a 2013 GS (well get it 1st June) but mines on 136k

Bodywork is near immaculate one tiny scuff, inside too slight rubbing of the leather from child seats and one rear seat bicker has a come loose at the top but I can live with it. 1 owner from new and fsh mainly dealer stamps sadly no paperwork but will be calling them to see what's been done when I get the service book , but rekkon full oil change on the gear boxes Haldex and diff on the cards . Garage is doing the timing belt and water pump before I pick it up.
