U3000-48 Related to poor cold starting.

I have been trying to find the reason my car has difficulty starting but shows no related codes.

I was advised on another forum to connect the laptop with SDD running and start the car.
This I have done. As usual, long crank before car would start. Let it idle and checked SDD.
This time it showed the code U3000-48.
I am unsure what it relates to but a quick search points to the fuel rail pressure sensor, either faulty or a signal failure.

Anyone have any suggestions. Thumbs Up Now at the point when I learn something new something old is lost out the other side !
Now retired so it doesn't matter anymore.

Well LR pdf I have for fault codes lists that one three times.

Hi shiggsy

Thanks for that. I couldn't find anything LR related. I did however find a Ford one which is different to them.

Code U3000-48
Solenoid valve 3 plausibility
Signal to/from pressure regulator valve interrupted or does not exist.
Pressure control solenoid circuit is shorting to ground.
Pressure control solenoid circuit is open valve has failed.
TCM has failed.
Supervision software failure.

I have no idea what the TCM is.

Not sure but I would assume these relate to the fuel rail pressure regulator. As this is a PSA/Ford engine these could also be relevant.
As my problem is poor cold starting, do you think it could be something to do with the fuel pressure regulator.

Doing a search on here it would appear some have had the same code relating to the steering wheel lock.

Fault code doesn't appear to be much help if it relates to several randomly deferent faults. Now at the point when I learn something new something old is lost out the other side !

Just plugged SDD back in and have done the following tests.

Module information network integrity test . Passed no fault found.
Diagnostic on demand self test powertrain module. Passed no fault found.

Have done a full SDD scan again, no DTC's found.

If the code U3000-48 states there is some kind of module communication error, how come doing the test find's nothing.

Or is there something I am missing? Now at the point when I learn something new something old is lost out the other side !

TCM is transmition control module and it is installed on atomatic gear car.

Thanks bomeo.
That one doesn't apply to me then. One less thing to look for. Thumbs Up Now at the point when I learn something new something old is lost out the other side !

I wonder if the code is thrown up because of the time taken to start.

U codes indicate communication errors rather than it pointing to a specific problem as such?

Sorry but it doesn't help

Hi SWalker

Fuel pressure is ok. 25150kpa with in one second. First injector signal is approximately two seconds.
I still think the problem is the fuel air ratio. I have the oil temperature sensor showing 280 Deg. C when the engine is cold but I can't find out if that is one of the parameters the ECU takes into consideration. If so it would assume the engine was hot at start up and reduce the amount of fuel accordingly. Engine starts ok when warm. Now at the point when I learn something new something old is lost out the other side !

When the engine is warm, the oil temperature sensor is showing over 300 Deg. C. So way out.
Don't know if it is the sensor or if it is being read incorrectly.
Think I'll have to bite the bullet and and get a new one, if only to eliminate it. Now at the point when I learn something new something old is lost out the other side !

looks like a simple resistance thing. i would measure it first / disconnect and see what you read and how it starts. Stewart

It is a THERMISTOR. Variable resistance with temperature. Can be NTC AND PTC. Negative or Positive Temperature Coeficient.

Thanks for the information.
I will take it out and measure the resistance as you say. I'll have to leave it for now due to the not so nice British weather. Rolling Eyes Now at the point when I learn something new something old is lost out the other side !

Hi gasman,

my oil temperature readings are similar like yours;
293*C engine cold vs 319*C after few minutes running.

did you managed to check the your temp sensor?

btw, it seems that autel is misreading engine temperature...
