Regarding AGM batteries.Depends if the late build autos had stop/start, I don’t know, but the manuals did . |

Swapped mine for new Varta, no issues to report and no 'recoding'. Autos don't have stop start I'm glad to say! Stop start is not a problem to be honest, it had stopped working with the original battery before I bought the vehicle last year, came back on with the new battery - but it isn't a problem so long as the 2nd thing I do, after pressing "start", is press the "start stop" button to switch it off 2014 Freelander 2 TD4 Manual Dynamic

I think they are…. In the same way that the car modifies its treatment of an aging battery as it deteriorates, it will modify its treatment of a new battery - just not instantly. It can be told about a new battery too - my iCarsoft diagnostic tool (for example) has the facility but your average battery retailer fitting a new battery (like our Halfords for inst) are just going to bung the new battery in and off you go… no harm done. |

if a car has an agm battery ,it usually needs recoding, stopstart or not.my freelander 2009 reg has stop start and of course an agm battery, but this model year relearns and resets after about 12hrs.im not sure about the later models, but if they do need coding and you dont do it the car might charge wrongly, thinking it has a poor battery fitted. |

the vw gas caddys, were having charging problems after un coded batteries were fitted by our guys at the road side.the batteries lasted about 2 to 3 months then went flat.the dealers could tell they were un coded and we had claims for new ones. |
