United Kingdom 2012 Freelander 2 TD4_e GS Manual Firenze Red
Freelander 2 newb

Hi Folks, thanks for letting me join. I have just bought a 2012 Freelander 2 and its a great motor. I am used to Series Landrovers so this coil sprung business is all a bit new. I have a couple of queries folks might be able to help with.

First, the motor only came with one key fob, and the emergency key is missing from that one. Rolling Eyes I see lots of different threads about keys on this forum. What's the best route to replace a key and can it all be done off the chassis number? (Cost will be an issue so money saving options welcome!!).

Second, any recommendations for aftermarket floor trays?

Oh and also, mine has the tyre repair kit instead of a spare. I hate tyre repair kits. Do many folks set themselves up with a proper spare wheel (or is this just the Series driver coming out in me)?

Cheers.

Get a full size spare from eBay . The gloop kits are useless IMHO . As far as floor mats go , nothing is better that the LandRover original rubber sets they are simply the toughest and last for ever . 2009 GS Auto Zermatt Silver - Sold June 21 after 10 years of ownership

Agree with floor Mats. Same with roof racks & mud flaps. There are a lot on the internet that say they are original but they are not. Do your homework before you purchase.

The Freelander is a reliable car, but have a savings plan because when the odd major thing goes wrong it is expensive & then you will be prepared. Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

United Kingdom 2014 Freelander 2 TD4 GS Auto Santorini Black

Hi

I have used these people when I left the key in my jeans pocket and my OH accidentally washed and tumble dried my Freelander 2 (2014) 5 button smart key, they supplied and coded the key to the car, £140 all in which I thought was a good deal compared to LR price. The key is exactly the same just no LR logo.

Not meaning to offend but you are aware that the key is inside the fob

Thanks everyone for the replies. I knew the key issue would be a pain but the motor was too good to pass on for that.
Yes, i am aware the emergency key should be inside the fob, no offence taken, its not obvious and i am sure some owners never twigged.

The key is the problem, the transponder can be coded by local key cutters if you have the original transponder for around £140, it may be possible to remove the lock and take it to a specialist who can cut the key, from the correct blank try Timpsons, if they don't they may know who can my PC is slightly to the right of Genghis

Key blade cutting here perhaps...

Edited to add... if you got the document folder that originally came with the car, a quick rummage and a very large sack of luck might turn up one of these (very long shot I know)...
