I think I’ll go for the PQ70DLRL version but before ordering, does anyone have any experience of the Wireless Car Play dongle from Xtrons? Presumably the dongle itself can be plugged into one of the USB cables and hidden behind the dash trim?

Yes. I use carplay2air.you obviously need a CarPlay adopter from xtron first.

Thanks. As I understand it, the Carplay2air is a wireless adapter for factory fitted Car Play. What I’m asking about is the Xtrons wireless Car Play adapter - CP03 - that provides both Car Play, and the wireless connection, for an Xtrons head unit.

I have just bought a PQ70DLRL and tried to install it on my freelander2 2008.
The car has the simplests radio. It is a l359-cd400 radio and after connecting the looms provided the Xtrons unit does not start at all. not even when the care is fully started.

The radio at back looks like this

The iso connector has this shape

and the xtrons unit has this pinout

As you can see from the last image I have put the voltmeter between pins 15 and 16 in the xtrons looms and I get 14.33 v

Should I have any voltage on the ACC-in(pin 14)?

In order to troubleshoot I was wondering if anyone has the pinout for the connectors at the back of the l359-cd400

thanks.
@john capri did you have any power related issues with your install?

Have the same stereo unit, and can not get the Xtron unit to start, only get a black screen.

@yopero did you get yours to work?

Should Pin 14 have voltage? if so from where?

Really appreciate if someone could help.

Has Anyone Sorted this Issue Yet Please I have just bought the same set up with the same result. It would help massively if Xtrons bothered to include any fitting instructions at all but they don't. Paul David Drabble Photography

After reading the rubbish on that label in the picture, it’s just as well they don’t include instructions. Doesn’t inspire confidence to even fit the unit .

I have been in touch with Xtrons Re Fitting the XTRONS units for Land Rover Freelander 2 PA70DLRL and PQ70DLRL.
In a Freelander 2 that has the l359-cd400 radio.
According to Xtrons
"YELLOW wire has a permanent 12V feed, also you will need to source an ACC feed for the RED wire, in general if your cigarette socket is only live when the ignition is on you can take the feed from cigarette socket."

Xtrons or other Brand?

Hello, first message outside of introduction topic. I dont know if the unwritten rules of this forum allow to post under old threads, and slightly out of XTRONS topic but my question is:

Since I am looking to fit an android system in my S freelander, I am having some serious doubts on which one I should pick.

I know that many of users here have fitted the Xtrons system, so that would be one of three options for me. I even found one for quite a reasonable price and in Germany which means that its free from duties and VAT.

Then there is another chinese system, which has a built-in carplay, which is extremely good for me as an iphone user

And last but not least, there is another system in the same price range, but with 8quad, 4gb ram and 64gb rom which seems to be double power from previous options.

The long question short - If you were me, which one you should pick? Should i stick with Xtron, or go for one of these less popular alternatives?

I fitted an Xtrons PB78DLRPL unit in my FL2 had some problems which I shared in this thread.
Now it crashes continuously and puts up a message Google play service has stopped, has anyone else had this or know of a way to sort it out.
Quite honestly its beginning to feel like a total waste of money

Raywin, there was an issue back in June with a Google update causing crashing of Google apps. This may be your issue. I had problem with my android tablet, not my xtrons as that doesn't get updated as often.

See here for info https://www.androidauthority.com/google-app-crashing-1237738/

Hope it helps. Andy

Many thanks for that Andy
I have been growing more and more frustrated by the Xtrons unit, and wish I had not wasted my money on it, I hope that the Google people will get their finger out and sort the problem.
I tried to roll back the app but it says it was unsuccessful, I will try to do it again and see what happens.
Updating the system seems to be something which does not happen with the Xtrons unit, I mailed them and they pointed me to an update file online applied by UDB drive but Im not sure it had any effect

We had an xtron fitted yesterday by a chap called Steve Eady lives in Dorset he did a great job very neat and tidy, he fitted the unit plus a reversing camera and a concealed light bar.
Really pleased with his work so if anyone needs any of these add ons he is the man to go to.
Cheers

Could I ask which LR head unit do you have and which model of Xtrons did you get fitted? The PQ70DLRL or the PA70DLRL?

Thanks

I haven’t yet got it why members want to install this seemingly unreliable China rubbish in their cars . What with all the installation problems, and working afterwards. I just don’t get it. And as a prospective buyer , mmmh again move on to another standard car . Just my opinion and each to their own. I like a car to be standard to the model, especially in the electronic department, as never happy as to what it’s affecting .

Yes, it would seem that these units are not without their challenges but I don’t see how they interfere with the electronics of the car. At the end of the day it’s simply a fancy audio unit powered from the ignition circuit like any other accessory, and inputting to the LR head unit via the standard audio-in. The benefit for me, if I do go for it, are the provision of a sat nav with a bigger screen than my phone, and the addition of Apple Car Play. But as you say, each to their own.
