Poor Fuel economy on TD4

Good evening all. Fuel consumption has dropped all of a sudden from 32 mpg to 30mpg even with premium diesel.
This is on a 12 year old TD4 auto. Any ideas on how to get back to 32 ? Does somerting need looking at?
I’m envious of those who claim 36+4

Dirty air filter ? but that would not cause a sudden drop in economy, 32mpg is very good for an auto 36 is average for manual FL2s

Could be gummy injectors.

Try running some diesel purge through the system. Something like 'Liqui Moly diesel Purge'. Don't put in the fuel tank, use it neat.
You will require about a metre of fuel line, a priming bulb and the male part of a 9.89mm quick release connector.
Cut the tube in half and fit the priming bulb in the middle. At one end fit the male connector. Put some diesel purge in a clean plastic bottle, about 1/2 to 1 litre. Disconnect the filter input line and plug it. Replace this with the temp hose. Put the other end in the bottle. Preferably get someone else to start the car and at the same time squeeze the priming bulb. At the exact time the bottle is empty, turn off the engine. Reconnect the filter inlet line. There will still be purge liquid in the filter assembly so start the car and rev it gently to work it through the injectors. then take it for a drive.

Did both our cars like this as they are both getting old. Worked well. Now at the point when I learn something new something old is lost out the other side !
Now retired so it doesn't matter anymore.
Freelander now gone.
