Well finally changed the timing belt and water pump and the most difficult part was the starter motor bolts🙄 apart from that I just took my time and all went well, it took me a day to do it, but all is done now.
Thank you all for your input it was much appreciated 👏

I did mine myself on a SD4 Evoque and I must admit, I hate, no HATE working on my own cars. Plenty of how to's on the net but just a few observations when I did mine. https://www.evoqueownersclub.co.uk/threads...ost-255033 Past: FL2 TD4 HSE Auto

Present: Audi A3 S Line.

Mine done today

Just had mine done today at a local Ford specialist. 2014 SE with 50k miles. Belt was a little cracked, water pump was fine. It’s a relief to know it’s done now though.

Belt cracked it 50k, that's not normal. I've changed these belts with over 150k on them, and they've shown nothing more than mild wearing of printing. Hyundai Ioniq 5 Ultimate. The family car.

150K in three years and the belt I would expect to be perfect, showing signs of polishing maybe.
50k in seven years is a different scenario.
The first suggest a lot of longer runs with considerably less heating/cooling cycles.
The second suggests many more shorter runs that would age the belt in a different way Tangiers Orange - gone, missing her

While the water pump might have been fine I’d still have changed it. If it fails there is every chance it will take out the cam belt. Even if it doesn’t you’ll effectively have to do another cam belt change to change the water pump.

Although it seemed fine it was changed anyway. Came as part of the kit. Crazy not to.

As another 'Co Antrim' local do you mind sharing who did your belt and price charged? Landrover - turning owners into mechanics since 1948

Very sensible I got the old boys, wealth of knowledge, at my local garage to do mine. Gave them a Gates kit and £120 later all done. At that price silly not to.

It was done by ACSR, Dublin Rd, Aldergrove. That’s the back road from the airport to Antrim. Total cost was £345.
