Power steering return pipe broken off

After discovering a leak coming from the low pressure return pipe where it had corroded badly I decided to remove the pipe assembly to replace it. On doing so the return pipe was very badly corroded in and broke away before it could be removed. Has anyone managed to removed this section once it’s broken? I’m thinking my first option is the dremmel and carefully remove the aluminium until I can pry it out. I tried a stud extractor but it wouldn’t break free. Failing that it’s a new rack.

this is unfortunate. And that is good thinking.
Though it hasn’t happened to me on that part but, it has on my boat’s reversing gear.
I was able to use a circulating multitool to remove the bits and plumb a new fitting. Its just so tight due to oxidation and some gasket material of course. I would try that option again before springing for a new one. Guy Pensa

Well... I managed to dremmel out the bulk of the aluminium before I extracted it with a stud remover. All back together and no leaks. 😊

Much the same as the OP, tap it and screw in a bolt, to lever out the rack
