Yep

"Existing halogen headlamp units should not be converted to be used with high intensity discharge (HID) or light emitting diode (LED) bulbs. If such a conversion has been done, you must fail the headlamp."

It will be all down to the scrutiny of the MOT tester. Jules

There was aspecial notice issued on 19 March which updates this. Basically as long as the beam pattern is correct it will pass irespective of whether a conversion to HID or LED has been done.

A couple fo the motorcycle forums picked up on it last week.

That isn't true, it it is after a certain date they will still fail the MOT as incompatible light source. I'm an MOT tester and the beam pattern wont mean I will pass it if LED bulbs are fitted to a halogen lamp after the said date.

Sorry, my mistake. I only looked at the motorcycle part.

That'll teach me not to read all of it.
