Usually one of the metal pipes in the right hand front wheel arch corrodes through. Why only one I don't know but you can only buy them as a paired assembly.

Apart from it being dangerous, if I drive the car, will it do any damage to the power steering system? |

If you are going to drive the vehicle with a power steering fluid leak, make sure to stop every time the pump starts to whine loudly and add fluid......no guarantees but you will likely minimize but not eliminate damage. Of course, you are going to be dripping fluid everywhere and are going to need a fair amount of PS fluid the longer the drive interval.

Is power steering fluid some sort of hydraulic oil? I assume it is & if so please do not drive this on the roads until fixed - Oil, Diesel & many other fluid trails on the roads can be lethal to other road users - especially motorcyclists. 2014 Freelander 2 TD4 Manual Dynamic

Exactly the same happened to me last month! It was a pipe springing a leak.

Thanks for that. I've ordered the pipes that people have referred to. Don't particularly want the car towed away, so will see if I can do the fix on my drive. |

Make sure you use the correct power steering fluid, CHF202 or equivalent. (Now Sold). 2008 Freelander 2 (Nazca Sand) SE TD4 Auto. Statutory write off & on WOVR for hail damage but still road legal.

I take it then, its important to use Pentosin CHF202, as opposed to any other quality fluids. I'll order some. Thanks |

It doesn’t have to be Pentosin but it must meet the CHF202 spec. I think Halfrauds sell a couple that are compatible. (Now Sold). 2008 Freelander 2 (Nazca Sand) SE TD4 Auto. Statutory write off & on WOVR for hail damage but still road legal.

That's OK then, as I can't get hold of Pentosin. Apart from the wheel arch lining and wheel, Do I need to remove the engine under shield for access? |

How many Litres of fluid do you think I will need, as I can't find the capacity in any manual? |
