2008 Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Manual Stornoway Grey
New owner HSE questions !

Well I'm now significantly poorer having purchased an '08 FL2 HSE manual in stornamway grey. Picking it up from delaer in 10 days.....

Moved from a Defender 90 CSW which we sold about a year ago - really looking fwd to it.

I have yet to see the car 1st hand - long story.... and have a couple of questions

A) if the car is fitted with the Laurel veneer interior trim is it easy to replace with the Silver effect ?
B) the car does come with the alpine upgraded stereo - but does it also have the DAB radio as std too ?

Many thanks....

welcome NBD

I hope the car lives up to the Def 90, at least you have a bit more arm room and comfort Whistle

I don't believe the radio will have DAB unless it was specified as a option,

sorry i have not changed my trim, but i am sure others have, so i'll let them answer the change to silver trim Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

United Kingdom 2008 Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Auto Tonga Green

Hi there, and I am sure you will enjoy the HSE!

The laurel trim can indeed easily be swapped for the silver trim - I had this done on my car (also 08 HSE) before I took possession of it, and the dealer said it just clipped off and on. I actually prefer the silver trim from the '09 model which I imagine would fit the same way.

And the upgraded Alpine system does not have DAB (despite it saying "Digital") on the button. That "digital" must only refer to tuning, which all radios have. Freelander 2 TD4 HSE auto Tonga Green/Alpaca

Hi adrian_fl2, I see you have a Tonga Green with alpaca HSE Thumbs Up I would be very interested to see some good quality photos of your FL2 as the Green photos I have seen dont really show how nice it really is Thumbs Up
I wanted to order a Tonga when I purchased mine, but the dealer advised against (not a popular colour here in Norway which would be difficult to sell later) and a long wait due to ordering time. I eventually got a good deal on a Stornoway he had in stock. However I still think Tonga is the best Freely colour. 2007 Freelander 2 HSE TD4 Manual with Premium Pack & Moonroof.

I agree with other posts about the radio; DIGITAL does not apply unless it has been specified as extra, the selection button is there in the same way as the CD button also selects AUX - but only if somehtig is fitted as an input source. Gone... 2013 XS TD4 Manual Firenze Red

Sale fell through ... it was in a pretty shoddy way for a 12month old car - they were asking 22k for HSE manual at main dealer - damage to front and rear bumbers, scarched wing mirrors, 4 parking dents, scuffs all round... not happy....

If anyone know of one please PM me....

Hi NBD. Autotrader is your friend. Saw this advert recently, when looking for a Stornoway Grey HSE FL2 recently. I was considering it but noticed from the pictures that it was a manual, not an Automatic as advertised. Bit higher than your £22K you were going to pay for your last FL2, but a good bit of haggling should get you nearer your target price.

Oh and first post. Had my Freelander 2 HSE 2009MY (08 Plate) Automatic in Stornoway Grey - sorry CG - since Saturday. Bought it from those nice people at CHPR. And so far, very pleased with it. Thumbs Up

If that is really Tangiers Orange, it must be a special order, ex G4 challenge vehicle or has been resprayed. This colour has not been offered as a normal Freelander 2 colour, only Tambora Orange (metalic) on early models.

Would not think that it would be a good investment anyway, as resale would probably be dificult. However if it was a geniune G4 challenge vehicle it may be worth an investment though Question . 2007 Freelander 2 HSE TD4 Manual with Premium Pack & Moonroof.

If it was a vehicle prepared for the cancelled G4 event ten it may have few holeo drilled into to it where the extra equipment was fitted then removed. the colour shouldnt be a huge deal depreciation wise if you are keeping it for 5 yrs + At work

I don’t agree with CG on resale Whistle . Any vehicle is easier to sell 5-years on, if it has a "popular" colour. Black, Dark Blue, Silver and Grey are easy sellers, Bright colours and rare colours for the model concerned are more difficult to sell especially when there are plenty of choice on the market.

Tangier Orange (rare colour) would have to be sold at a low price in five years time when there will be loads of the more popular colours on the market. Only exception if it had some sort of collector status.

At the moment there is a 2007 Tonga Green HSE automatic with all extras and very low mileage for sale at a LR dealers at 2/3 the list price for a new one – why? The green colour of course, which is not popular here in Norway. A similar Stornoway with much higher mileage is going ca. £10000 more Shocked 2007 Freelander 2 HSE TD4 Manual with Premium Pack & Moonroof.

i would keep away from it

None standard colour will be hard to sell

if it was a G4 event car, that's stripped of all the G4 goodies, then it wouldn't hold the G4 price tags that the D3, RRS & FFRR G4 cars seem to hold

That and it looks awful without all the G4 equipment Rolling Eyes Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis
