Front Wheel Bearing Question

I have a noise from the front of the Landy that sounds like a dodgy wheels bearing. I'm pretty sure that's what it is.
It's going in to my local trusted garage for diagnosis on Monday. Their guys are pretty good.

If it is a WB, is it worth getting them to fit the knuckle/hub assembly or just get a quality bearing?
I see Britpart do the Knuckle, but i am unsure of the quality of their stuff, having never used them.
Thanks
Iain

My wife had rhe knuckle/hub replaced on her Fl2 with a genuine Landrover one 6+ years ago as pressing the bearing out wasn't recommended by the LR specialist. I've had mine done also but used the Britpart knuckle/hub as it was the only real option , I too was wary of using the Britpart item due to issues with parts in the past , upto now it has been trouble free. It does look a quality part though .

Hi,

I Did mine for approx. 2,5 years back. As long as you have to special bearing tools and general mechanical skills, there is no problem replacing the front bearing its self. Yes, it might be easier/ more convenient replacing the whole hub (as long as all connections will free up nicely...), but you will then be stuck with Britpart components only, which I will avoid for all it is worth! Probably many good Britpart components out there, but I have experienced the oposite more than once. I always use FAG/SKF/SNR/NTN bearings as I know these are premium products.

Thanks guys.

Garage confirmed today it was the osf bearing that was shot.
Replaced it with a FAG bearing hub for just over £200 all in.
Well happy, and no more noise! Very Happy Very Happy

Iain
