FBH dead - any advice regarding fault finding?

Hi,

Struggling to get the temperature up these cold days. Its typical -10/-14 in the morning in my area. Engine starts on the button, but takes a very long time to get up to operating temperature. 25km+ or some. After some searching I found that my car has a Fuel burner heater fitted, but realised that this one is dead. Exhaust tube on it stone cold. Anyone know where to start fault finding on this one or any advice around this one?

Hi,
never knew a FL2 could have a FBH Shocked

Have a look over on D3 side as there is a section just for the FBH, dont know if its the same type in a FL2,

also

Have a look in Martins SHOP as he sells many leads to connect the FBH to a laptop used it for mine on a 2007 RRS

Thumbs Up .
my first ever FL2 and I did keep it longer than most other cars!
But its now gone way up Norf

As far as I know, a FBH was fitted to all the FL2s exportet to colder climates like Norway, Sweden, Russia and Switserland. Its not installed in UK vehicles. Mine has one. Was not aware of this until someone told me and I discovered the exhaust tube at the back of the RH wheel arch.

Found some usefull info on the D3 site, so will continue fault finding from there...

I had a FBH on my boat. I think they are basically all the same and originate from lorry cab heaters. Anyway I took mine to a lorry servicing centre and they knew exactly what to do to service it. I am guessing you could do the same. The cost was reasonable compared to boat or car servicing places!

My starting point would be check the fuse - I had a FBH in one of my FL1 and it was great. There isn't much to them - fuel supply, glow plug and a signal from the ECU (or timer if fitted). USually get full of carbon / glow plug dies and it locks out.

IF the fuse is fitted, and good, then you'll need to try to connect to it if you don't fancy pulling it apart! 2000 Xei 1.8 gone

2014 GS Man - AT's, Mantec Sump guard and tank guard, split charger in boot, towbar, work in progress...
