At first glance, this Mongoose cable - https://www.jlridssddmongoose.com/home/?mobile=#/product/4 - seems very good value at a hundred quid as I have to programme a new key and add a trailer module so it should pay for itself straightaway.

I had one and did exactly as you want to do, I think I paid £70 and it was listed as mangoose. It will code your tow bar, reset your services and look at modules to read & clear faults.

There is a reason the official JLR setup costs nearly £3,000...

I have used a clone without any issues to date; I've flashed and modded quite a few things, a few that are listed on this forum in various threads. The most important things are a supply charger with around 20-25 amps and your laptop plugged into the wall, tons of research and patience. Maybe I simply got lucky with my purchase. Most recently I turned off my TPMS as I don't have them installed.

Hi, I agree, software development is costly and an ardious job, thus the original setup is expensive, however, I thought the OBD sockets were all the same -at least in most cars- as the sofware was the real game changer. |

The software isn’t an issue. V130 is readily available ready to go in a VirtualBox Win 95 environment and it seems to be more than sufficient for our cars. The risk is that the clone cable will mess things up. Like Motion Inc I’ve fiddled with a few things found on this Forum and, so far, so good. This is the one I bought - http://www.obd2shop.co.uk/wholesale/v137-j...rover.html |

Thanks a lot, it is good to hear that cloned cables do work. Well, I was able to do some little modificaitons with my ex-volkswagen, and I believe my previous experience and current research coupled with the experience from this forum can help me achieve my goal, which is to find out whether I can use any one of the two fakra inputs at the back of the original satnav unit to feed in external video. Now, I will definitely order one, unfortunately a cloned one, however, I also would like to know if you could check the relevant control unit for me to see if there is such a setting to play around with the next time you are connected to your car, of course provided that it is NOT an extra burden for you, and you have an original satnav. |

I don't have a satnav system installed. However, I am certain that whatever systems were available when my model was made, is covered in JLR SDD v130. I have seen it in my use of the software. Now, regarding the specifics that you are asking about in the other thread, I am certain JLR SDD will have the ability that you need. Which version, I go with the newest and just use a keygen.

Thanks Simon, you already helped by verifying a clone cable worked for you. MotionInc agreed to check what I want to know next time they're connected. But still, if you come across with a setting that is related to playing external videos and/or enabling fakra input, please let us know. (BTW, I insist on those fakra inputs because I strongly believe that they are there for a reason). |
