i have a 2010 Freelander 2 TD4, 2.2 with exactly the same symptoms. Starts fine and idles with no smoke unless you give it throttle, then lots of white smoke and the hesitation at 1800-2100 revs. Once is warm (just starting to move off blue region of temp gauge), then runs fine. No error messages.

It has regular diesel filter (genuine LR) changes, new glow plugs and no sign of air in the diesel lines. It has had a new MAF and I have blanked the EGR pipe to see if that helps, but does not.

Not a major problem, but irritating.

I wonder if Offshore ever got to find the cause of his problems. Jules
