good to know other forums have the same call on things they know nothing about, but feel they should comment.

Had the foam in my Continental Cross Contacts on my Discovery Sport when I had it . It was simply a strip of foam the same width as the tread stuck to the inside of the tyre. It was about 10mm thick and looked just like ordinary white foam that you would get in a seat cushion or similar. It cut down tyre/road noise apparently.

I note that Volvo recommend this Noise Reducing Pirelli Scorpion Zero on the Volvo XC60.

It has B rated Economy, A rated Wet Road Grip, and 69db Noise. Also top end price.

Has anyone tried these and are they worth the money?

Presently running Pirrelli Scorpion Zero which I believe to be the OEM tyre 235/60/18/103V on my 63 plate. Likely to need replacing in new year and several tyres I've looked at (Falken Wildpeak for example) only seem to come in 107H. Would that present any problem - the car will never be used by me for towing which is where I believe the loading would be most relevant?
Also, if the 107H was acceptable, I'd read somewhere this might have a bearing on the insurance, fitting a non-OEM size?

Sorry, I know tyre threads are very subjective as everyone has their preferences when it comes to brand etc but I'm just after a bit of general advice.
Presently running the oem Scorpion Zeros, 235/60/18/103v on my 63 reg but don't seem to be getting a great lot of mileage out of them. Was looking at getting something a bit 'chunkier' such as GG or the Falken WildPeak, however can't see that they come in the 103V rating and then been told that the 107H isn't suitable? I don't tow so there's never going to be extra loading to worry about.
No doubt what I've been told is correct, which leads to my second question, anyone running any 'chunky' tyres in my size and rating?

Anything chunkier will be noisier, may be ok for the first few 1000 km, but they get pretty noisy the older they get. If you don't need them avoid it. Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

Apologies for hijacking the thread, but didn't want to start yet another tyre topic...

Has anyone got experience of Excelon tyres? I'm buying a secondhand set of wheels with 8mm tyres on them, but Iver never heard of the brand.

I don't push my FL2 on the road (placid driver, me!) and never take it off road (I have a D3 for that) so I am wondering whether these 'budget' tyres might be fine for this set. Don't really want to buy new rubber just for the sake of it.

Thoughts?

^^^^^^^^^ Think you will find they are a Dunlop/Goodyear economy brand, so nothing to fear , they are not China rubbish, if that was your concern

£525.00 off ebay with new tyres, or £480.00 just to replace the tyres on my existing 17 inch rims. No brainer I reckon!

I'll be selling the 17s too, hopefully get a hundred or so for those so brings the cost down further.
